I have a CPU that is a Intel (R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU @ 2.40GHZ, 2400 MHZ, GTX 460 Nvidia VC, and 8 GB of RAM but because I have a 32 bit Vista operatig system , it can only use 4GB. My problem is whenever I set my settings to a little higher than mid range, my computer will freeze with a warning that says "System Out of Memory" Any suggestions on how I can set up config that will help aleviate this??? Any feedback greatly appreciated.

Turn down your settings - and go to the web resources and look for the FS9/FSX Config tweak link.

Your card is trying to process too much information at once.

Anyone ever heard of or have a External Frame Rate Limiter? Where can I get this from? In the teak section of the link it says to get an External Frame Rate Limiter and then Max your frame rate in FSX.

You might try increasing your Virtual Memory which will help. Do a Google search for something like....how to increase Vista Virtual Memory for specific instructions.

a tweaked everything that was recommended and still freezes up. I'll try backing off of more secenery.

ok so I took another flight after tweaking my computer. Now I get the mesaage that my computer has run out of memory BUT, my computer is still run ning and I can still fly the aircraft as long as I dont close the message. If I close it out, FSX shuts down. So I lleft it open and the problems I encountered were sporatic, like I had no glidescope availaiable, GPS mapping was not working, and a few others that I can't remember. I think I will tweak my scenery settings down a little bit more until I stop getting the out of memory msg. I am ready to send this whole computer to the dumpster.

TOM check your FSX .cfg and see if you have HIGHMEMFIX=1 under your [GRAPHICS] smile

Run the sim and see if it makes any difference.....also I want to make clear that any change of the FSX.cfg is at your own risk and whatever change I have made on mine comes after endless hours of reading first and then trying. IMO this is the only way to find a good compromise to decently run FSX ,lowering your settings is just defeating the purpose of having FSX.

Thanks Vincenzo and I understand I am making these changes at my own risk, but at the same time appreciate your trying to help me with my settings and FSX. I couldn't agree more that lowering the settings in FSX only defeats the purpose of having it! So I am going to run the sim with this change and see what happens. Thanks again for trying to help. I'll let you know how it goes.

Well the change made it worse. FSX froze up while climbing through FL330. So I will remove the change and see what happens, while lowering my settings even further.
