On my flight out of Paris this morning I noticed this and the green dotted line would move when I changed the course. It did disapear when I changed teh freq to the ILS. I have never seen this so thought I would put this out to everyone

If I'm not mistaken, and someone who's more experienced in the 737, feel free to chime in, I believe that's a radial line extending from a VOR. It looks like you unknowingly have the RBT VOR programmed in with the radial of 180 degrees. Can't remember how to turn it off, though.

Antonio nailed it. You had the VOR active on the nav display. Looks like it was tuned to CGN and whatever course you selected. It's a great help when flying some approaches and departures.
As far as the on/off switch, it's a little switch to the left of the nav mode knob on the dash.

this comes in very handy when you are flying certain SIDS out of airports especially in European and Asian countries...

You display this by entering the waypoint identifier. in the Fix page of the FMC. Bearing and distance. Bearing draws a line and distance is a circle radius. I use it frequently for intercepting the ILS. Here I have entered the ILS ID. ISNQ, the recepricol of the RWY 16L, 341degrees and the distance of 12 mi. Were the line and circle intersect is where I want to intercept. I also use it alot for the MSA Altitudes distance rings. It is a very useful tool. This is a 757 Honeywell FMC same as all Boeings.

John,
Theoretically I hope you already got what you were looking for.
As a exercise, try and fly a DME ARC approach (VIDP RWY 28 as a example) without using ILS.
This comes in very handy there and it's a lot of fun.
