I recently built a new computer. I looking around making sure everything is on the up and up. I ran the dxdiag tool, and it came up saying I have a Intel Core I7 CPU (which is correct) Its a 6 core processer but the tool says I have 12 CPU's is that correct or did something get configured wrong. Other thing I had was when FSX loaded after updateing shows just a black screen. uninstalling and will reinstall now. any help with the processor? or is ths normal

Intel has hyper-threading which creates 6 additional virtual cores. So its normal what your seeing. There is a way in Bios to disable this though if you so choose.

Michael, have you downloaded the latest video drivers for your new video card? also...have you applied all the FSX patches?

yea I have, I reinstalled fsx and its fine, the first time I installed, took off from jfk and got 4 fps, with all the setting cranked all the way up. I was mad. after doing the update then the black screen tarted. Getting even more angry, but with the uninstall and reinstall everything it's fine now. will take a few more days to get all the software updated and reinstalled before I can fly again. can't wait......oh and now I'm getting 40 fps around new york and over 90 fps everywhere else. this upgrade has been well worth it.
