Too bad Mesaba won't be around much longer.  The Saab is what sparked my love of flying because it would fly over my grandparent's house every day when I would go there after school until my parents got off work. I would always look up and see that "big" red plane and I thought it was the coolest thing. I took my first plane ride a few years later and I was totally hooked and the rest is history. It'll be sad to see them go for sure.

Nice picture and the Saab looks great as always. I too will be sad to see the Saab finally go, whenever it does. Yet I have to temper my remorse with the understanding that an aircraft which is as comparatively inefficient in terms of performance and which incurs higher operating cost ratios will inevitably fall victim to corporate streamlining and progressive management. And honestly, can you really say the Saab is as elegant an aircraft as the CRJ's?

I flew the ESC/IMT run an evening last week and I wasn't able to find any Saabs in the 7PM push out of DTW. I know that there still are a few around, but it's strange not to see that staple in departure lineup in the evenings.

But, the Saab sparked my intrest in aviation. Making me have the desire to learn the papers and the practicals. I will definetly miss seeing the little red plane puttering along the MSP area that I travel to oh so frequently.
