Hi Everyone,
Before I order my new desktop PC, I wanted to get some opinions on this configuration for running FSX smoothly...
Dell XPS 8300
Intel Core i7-2600 processor (8MB Cache, 3.4GHz)
Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium, 64Bit
8GB DDR3 SDRAM at 1333MHz - 4 DIMMs
1TB - 7200RPM, SATA 3.0Gb/s, 16MB Cache
NVIDIA GT420 1GB DDR3
Soundblaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio
Thanks for any feedback!

Daniel, the only thing I would change is the cpu to a 2600K - this enables better overclocking

I just built a new system this weekend and FSX is smooth as butter! AMD 1095, 8 gig, Gygabyte 890 mobo, Nvidea 560T, H50 Water cooler, 2 x 32meg cache 500 gyg wd hd's and 300 gyg Raptor drive -soley dedicated to FSX. There is no stutters, shutters, or pauses now. The system that was replaced was a Intel 920, EVGA X58 Mobo, Nvidia 420 series card and my 3DMark11 test was twice as fast. From my research for those in rebuild mode don't go Crossfire or SLI, Flight sim is a CPU hungry resource bastard a strong vid card helps but running 2 will just waste the green. Based on your setup I would recommend the Raptor Drive if it is in your budget.

As with Kenneth, that part concerns me a bit. I just built a system that has a 1 TB, 7200 rpm 64 mb cache drive. 16 mb seems like it might be a potential bottleneck. SSD's are great if they're within your budget.
I'd also agree with Alan about the 2600K. It's a good processor! Good luck!

I noticed you said it was a Dell XPS. You could have saved yourself probably 50% by buying the parts and building it yourself. It does look like a nice system though.

If you can build you PC yourself, you may get the following crucial parts:
1-2 TB HDD with SATAIII 6GB and 64MB Cache (very crucial and important), WD or Seagate as the best. No SDD drives!
1 Nvidia GTX570 (the Best money can buy, else is overkill)
better RAM with better timings such as GSkill with 6-8-6-20 (get the lowest timings possible), 6GB is sufficient since FSX can't address more
