Works beautifully .....I've been using both for a long time now. My FSX rarely crashes.

That is very good news , with all of the issues I have had in the past several weeks, I decided to make this upgrade. Thank you for your response, much appreciated

Yep, same here. No crashes, a solid OS, FSX/FS9 works like a champ.

Good luck, Tom. I think you'll like the results. smile

do a search (google or AVSIM or similar) for the UIAutomationcore.dll issue. Find an older 32bit version of the .dll and put it in your main FSX folder. That is the only major problem I had. it causes FSX to crash to desktop after about 15-20 drop menu requests (when you right click in the center of the screen or try to select a submenu from the file bar). I did an update of my video driver. Then I also had to do a search for Mathias Kok's (from aerosoft) settings suggestions for FSX. Now that those three things are done - I'm very happy with it. Still testing, but flew all day Friday and Saturday (multiple planes, multiple flights) with no crashes. I'm slowing integrating hardware and software back in and creating restore points frequently - instead of having a re-loading frenzy. I think this is just smart - in case a piece of scenery mesh or my rudder pedals or trackir causes something to screw up. Just being safe. So far, so good. Good luck to you.

Ditto's to what others are saying. W7 64 is more stable and does a great job, the infortunate part is FSX was designed for Vista and XP3. You need to make the UIAutomationcore.dll fix for it to run like butter. I have logged over 20 hours of flights since I made the fix and only one CTD as compared to a CTD every flight and sometimes more.

Well I installed Windows 7 Home Premiem 64-bit (Service Pack 1), but I keep getting an error message in FSX that system is out of memory and shuts down. Sounds like I need to make a tweak or something. I am going to post my computer info and fsx set up to see if anyone can help me with this. Thanks in advance

Tom - I would follow this guide from Nick N for installing Win7 64 and FSX. http://www.simforums.com/forums/topic34141_post198187.html#198187 The tweaks in there are great and have worked very well for me and my setup.

Caveat: Be sure to read the guide through before you install since there are some setup options / tweaks that are irreversible once made during Windows installation.

ok, for the computer,
Procesor is an Intel Core(TM2) Quad CPU @ 2.4GHz, RAM is 8 GB, The Hard drive is 300GB of which 30 GBs are being used. This drive is soley used for FSX. Video card is GE Force GTX 460.

well I installed FSX just the way it was rrecommended on the link Trevor provided and made the tweaks to FSX as well. So far it made a HUGE difference. Took a short test flight to see how the system would respond and FPS stayed around 30 or so with a very smooth flight, no stuttering, freezing or anything like that. So far so good. Thanks for the link Trevor

Win 64 is the way to go, i am very happy with it and with more than 4GB ram on board you will be well off and utilize it with a new dimension of speed ;-) (although not much for FSX lol), cheers

Some of the payware is not approved for Windows 7 64 bit though many times it will work. I've had issues with the Flythemaddog, Captain Sim 757, and Wilco ERJ jets when I upgraded to Windows 7. No problems at all running LDS-767.

I hate to be the exception but I have a new computer and still have issues with Win 7 64 & FSX. Every 20-30 flight hours I CTD. I downloaded the UIAutomationcore and installed; CTD every 2-3 hours. Any help would be appreciated.

Check your cooling situation.... Since FSX is a cpu hog, overheating may be the issue
