	In FS9, any aircraft, 2d or virtual cockipt I have a really scratchy sound with the audio. If I switch to tower view or spot view, it's not an issue. Can't really seem to narrow down what it could be..

	I think I know what you are talking about. I have noticed it only in freeware aircraft. Much of it from what I can tell is just a poor quality sound effect package for that particular aircraft, try and mute different options when in flight and the aircraft is cruising. For example, first mute the environment sounds (which in my experience is what causes the scratchiness), then try muting the engines, and keep muting them one at a time until you can narrow down what is causing the scratchiness. OPTIONS>SETTINGS>SOUND> this is where you will be able to isolate the sounds.
