Im thinking in upgrading from my dual core to a core2 quad and I need to know if it wil make any difference in fsx. I've recently realized that fsx literally incinerates my dualcore running constantly at 90-100% cpu usage sometimes causing my fsx to hang for so long that it crashes.

I have it running at 4ghz oc of course.
My frames are fine im just worried my processor will die soon.

Well, if your happy with your frames and thinking of getting a new cpu, why not hold off and keep running FSX until (if) you current cpu dies? As far as difference, I am unsure, someone else will have to chime in on that. smile

A CPU dieng? Copute? I would assume it will boot to the Bios than it will give all kinds of errors as the Bios is unable to handover operations to the CPU. Looking for HDD, Mem, OS bootsector etc.

Ya know. been doing this for 20 yrs , built many computers. I can not ever recall ever knowing of a CPU dieing. OC or not. HDD, MEM, PSU, MB's yes. PSU's more than any. If your running @ 4ghz dual core your probably not going to see much if any performance increase. If you are running many apps at the same time a quad core may, I say may help. No guarentee. Good cooling number one and stable power number 2 are the keys to CPU longevity! Keep the ccmputer clean!!!

"worried my processor will die soon"

At my age I'm more worried about my body dieing soon smile

Latest build: REDLINE 2600K Extreme Intel Core i7 5.0GHz+ CPU
