Hello there DVA! My final high school year is almost done in about 2 weeks and thus, I'm already starting to get prepared for University. For laptop, I'm considering a laptop on which I can do my post-secondary work + web-surfing, along with some gaming which includes FSX. My price range is less than $800. So after some search, I found these 2 laptops by ASUS that seem to be meeting my expectations, just need to decide which one I should go for:

1) ASUS K42 Series K42JV-XN1
Specs: Intel Core i5 460M(2.53GHz), 4GB Memory DDR3, 500GB HDD 7200rpm, NVIDIA GeForce GT 335M w/ NVIDIA Optimus (1GB GDDR3)

2) ASUS K52JT-XT1
Specs: Intel Core i7-740QM 1.73GHz, 4GB Memory DDR3, 500GB HDD 5400rpm, ATI Radeon 6370 (1GB GDDR3)

Which one of these two I should go for? Thanks for all your help.

I owned 3 ASUS laptops. You truly can't go wrong with one. Although a desktop tower may be more useful to you, especially because you want FSX.

I understand that but due to the lack of space in my residence, I have to go for a laptop. I will be running FSX at about medium settings along with paywares like PMDG, LVL-D, scenery addons, etc. So for that, I need to decide which one of these 2 laptops will run FSX best on my desired settings stated above.

First I must ask, how important is battery life for you?

Not a lot. If I will be running games, it will be running on the charger. But for the normal use without charger, 3-4 or more hours of battery would be great

Okay, well I did a little research and found that the i5 is only a dual core whereas the i7 is a quad which would be better for games, but it will sacrifice some battery life. If I was choosing I would go for the i7

I think the i5 even though a dual core it has a higher cpu speed, and faster hard drive
