Now before you guys to tell me to look at the other thread, im gonna tell you im having different problems...
I flew last night and all went well, got up this morning to fly and FSX would not respond. I let it sit, thinking, for about 10 minutes to see if it would load but I got nothing. Ususally when I load FSX up I ge the PMDG windows saying that is loading but I couldnt even get past the startup screen...
Has anyone had an issue like this?
I have a comp that will run it fine, like I said I flew last night with no problems.
Programs I have running with FSX are:
REX 2.0
PMDG MD-11
Level -D 767
FSpassX (rarely used)
DVACARS
Since it wasnt making it to the PMDG load screens I was wondering if one of those files got corrupted somehow and blew the whole thing up..??
I checked my firewall/anitvirus settings and they were all the same.
I also tried to do a system restore but had the same problems

check the last time your security ran a scan and also see if it does a registry cleaner along with the scan. there may have been a file which got caught in the registry clean that was one of the PMDG files or FSX. I have had registry cleaners wreak havoc on my software programs before. Of it isn't the problem try loading another aircraft and see if it works with another aircraft. if that is not the case and you think it may be the PMDG MD-11. Just try uninstalling it and re-installing it. It doesn't take that long, hopefully one of these will do the trick... It is definitely a weird occurrence, something must have gotten corrupted or erased, at least that is what I think?

The problem is I cant get FSX to load so I cant do anything with anything with any other aircraft. I did a complete uninstall of everything (FSX, pmdg, level d, fspass, rex). I ran out of time before work so my comp is sitting right now.. Im hoping when I get a chance to reload everything, it all works out... Aside from uninstalling FSX using the CD, what else do i need to delete to get a fresh install? I went thru and got rid of FSX and all the associated programs and deleted what was left in the FSX folder.. Are there any "leftover" files hiding in places I ahvent checked?

I have ran the disk clean up a few times since everything was installed and never had a problem... I just dont see how one of the files wouldve ended up in the registry all of a sudden

Well, there is this path C:\Users\Your user name\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX .
as you can see there will be left overs to delete elseware, it may have deleted with the uninstall but better off to check.
I don't understand it sometimes with FSX either??? I hope the re-install fixes the issue. If you don't use FsPax I would can it. one less thing to have to worry about.
Keep us posted

It's not recommended to set a complex payware aircraft as the default loading aircraft. From the sounds of your original post, this is what you've done? Even further it is better to load to the airport you want to fly from with a default aircraft, then change to the aircraft you want to fly. Since you've already reinstalled, you shouldn't need to delete the fsx.cfg file to remedy this.

Are you saying to load my airport, start the flight then change to the plane I want while Im sitting at the gate?
I havent reinstalled just yet but I will prolly tonight to see if I can even get it to run...

Another thing you can try is this -
Go to C:\Users\Your user name\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX
Find the FSX.cfg file
Make a folder in this area
Copy the FSX.cfg file to this folder
delete the FSX.cfg file from the origanal place you found it.
Reload FSX - It will take a little bit longer but FSX will rebuid this file and you can see if this is your problem.

So I went home last night and sat in front of the computer... Started my fresh install of fsx, PMDG, Level-D, REX and so on. I finally got the sim up and running and all seems to operate as advertised. Before I uninstalled FSX, I had moved my logbook.bin file out of its folder so I didnt lose all my hours. After I got FSX installed I put my logbook file back where it belongs, then it dawned on me... Could my logbook file really be causing all these problems??? Ive had problems with it before and did research and found out it corrupts itself out of nowhere... I started FSX up once I had the file in place and whuddya know... NOT RESPONDING!!! Took it back out and started FSX up once again and had 0 problmes loading. I felt like a bonehead cuz I knew this file had a history of killing the sim... In the end, I still think the fresh install was the way to go.. My frame rates are capping at about 35 sitting on the ground in ATL with a major thunderstorm hanging over head and lots of traffic moving around me... Glad I got that fixed!! Thanks to Steve, Jesse, and Kenneth for your inputs!!

Guys,
I am having the same situation now. I can`t get my FSX in Win7 run. It says fatal crash and doesn`t say the reason. I`ll try the same thing as Chris did. I hope it will works.

For some unknown reason, the logbook.bin file has complete control over the way FSX starts up... If you dont mind losing it, just delete it and start FSX.. It is one of those files that rebuild itself
