Would this processor run FSX better: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103923

or this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103849

I appreciate the comments!

Thanks,

Well the first one is a faster cpu out of the box so it would run fsx a little better. Considering they both are black edition you can overclock them and get a heck of a lot better performance out of fsx. Just me personally I would choose the six core cpu, because if you run a lot of background programs with fsx (REX, UT2, Radar Contact, Acars...etc.) it spreads the load out between the cores giving better performance. It's reallly up to you though, always check reviews also.

What FPS do you think I'll get with 8GB 1333 MHZ RAM, the Phenom II x6 1090T, and the Sapphire 5670 ATI card vs 8 GB 1333 MHZ RAM, the Phenom II x4 975, and the Sapphire 5670 ATI card?

Oh, and I have the PMDG 744X, FSX, My Traffic X 5.1, and I would like to go full visual specs on FS.

In the background, I'll probably have three tabs open on Google Chrome, ACARS, and occasionally Calculator and MS Word.

I run a AMD 970 BE OC'd @ 4.1ghz. CPU temp @ 48c constant, Nvidia 480GTX. 6g 1600 mem. I have my FPS locked at 30 and its stays there most of the time. may drop to 28 using PMDG MD11 and heavy scenery, very little if any stutters. I also have Bujotes FSX tweaks. http://www.venetubo.com/fsx.html

IMHO. Go with the 975. Its a great family of CPU's.

I dont use the external frame limiter. It messes with my multimonitor setup. I just set FSX's frame limit to 30FPS.

Do you think I'll get better out of the six core with all of my background programs?

^Most likely. I recently upgraded to an i5 2500k and have my sliders set pretty high. FSX uses only about 50% of the four cores (not too bad considering I use the QW 757, REX, and the OrbX PNW scenery) and I have plenty of CPU power to do other CPU-intensive tasks while I'm flying.

I run a quad and even it rarely uses all the cores. FS isnt very good at mulithreading and addons will more than likely not use more than one or two cores, depending on how the program was coded. Its a soffisticated thing
