A rather uneventful flight ends in white knuckle landing today.
While setting up for the ILS approach to 13 in LGA, everything seemed fine. The DH is 214 but thank goodness it was a clear day. The ILS had me at about a 3 dgree angle to land on Taxiway P/B.
I circled around and found that the VASI was setup for an ear popping 1500fpm GS at about 135knts (Vref30)

Has anyone seen this before in the default KLGA of FSX?
and
Can anyone recommend a decent freeware or AFCAD for LGA? (something that doesn't have too many FPS killing frills)

Thanks.

(I do have to blow my own horn and mention that it ended with a 98fpm TD, 1300ft from threshold biggrin )

I noticed on a couple of my landings into LGA were a little on the strange side... Were you getting a cross wind coming into 13? Ive had some strange drift issues into LGA that line me up on taxiways but the wind would kick me out a bit... also, im not sure which runway it s that comes in over the water but I have "cased" a few autolands on that one... one topping the scales ate 799 fpm... I promptly deleted that flight and havent flown into LGA since...

I thought not flying into LGA would solve the problem too, but a couple of days ago, I flew into JFK and on approach to 13L, the same issue. It's as if the localizer was moved about 75 feet to the west of the rnway.

I've approached JFK fom the SW to rnwy 31R with no problem.
I think NY is just playing games with my head. It knows I hate a sidestep clearence.

I have had this happen a few times also at JFK runway 22L. I never had the issue until I started adding sceneries. FTX, Blueprint, etc. Don't know if that's the issue or not but, I feel the your pain when you need an instrument approach, you have to settle for a blind visual.

I am not quite sure if this would fix your problem or not, but I figure that it can't hurt. http://hsors.pagesperso-orange.fr/navaids.html
On the left side, download the updated magvar data, which will help fix the small magnetic variations that change periodically. This file was updated in 2010, whereas the one from FSX is from 2005.

Hope that this helps,

I have made a DISCOVERY ! ! !

The approach plate states: VGSI and ILS glidepath not coincident {VGSI Angle 3.10/TCH 55}

So with the admission that I missed something on the Approach Plate, yes . . . That's the way it s'posed to be.

(I hate leaving a problem or question without an answer, I had to continue research)
