Curiosity and attention to detail got me on this one - just noticed that my last few PIREPs have had passenger counts in them.
First: is this some sort of tracking?
Second: does it correspond to payload loaded on the A/C or is it random?
Third: it's pretty cool but I never saw any NOTAM about it.
Fourth: is it related to a certain airline?
I could go on, but I won't. I'm just really curious as I just filed a PIREP and went to my logbook to verify everything was correct and noticed the extra line with passengers on it.

Thanks,

-Mick-

I think it is based on historic data - and Luke stuck it in there...pretty nice little background add in. If I am using FSPassengers, I usually put that info in my remarks - I haven't done it lately, so I'm not sure if that would affect those numbers.

The passenger load is related to a few things - the seat count on the airplane, the target load factor per airline, a random distribution and a rolling sine wave of seasonal fluctuation. Right now it's not serving any purpose, but with ACARS3 that might change. Consider it "highly experimental" right now, but I want to have it in place to generate 50,000 or so passenger loads to validate my algorithm.

Cheers!

Luke - would you consider letting pilots put in their own pax loads - based on if we utilize FSPassengers?

Yes I'd like to be able to enter my own passenger load as well since I fly with FSpassengers

Ah fantastic! That sounds like a neat little experiment. Thanks for the responses. Yeah I had just seen it, so I went back in my logbook and it really only started a few days ago so I got curious. I like the idea - good call!

Clear skies to you all.

I'd like to know the number of pax before the flight. Helps with weight and balance, etc.

Well, there is a tool out there, that shows the passenger loads on the r/w Delta flights. I use this and FS Passengers to load my aircraft. With the QW/PSS 757 merge, I have access to more Delta aircraft, and rotate among the fleet.

When you select a flight and save a , using "Find a Flight", it would be a nice addition if it would give you some pax and cargo numbers for that flight. As far as I can see, you never see the number of pax until you file your report. I could make up a number, but chances are, it wouldn't match. ;-)

Which tool is this? Is there one for any of our other codeshares as well?

It gives you the load factors for a given route.

This is the tool that I use to calculate my Fs Passengers traffic.
