For those who are either executive staff, senior staff or CP's/ACP's, a fellow pilot (Capt. Stephan Faessler) has graciously offered to personalize my forum signature and I have asked that he include the text, "Captain, CRJ-700". My question is whether this would violate protocol, as I'm technically assigned to the CRJ-200 program. I wish to display the 700 rating, as I have almost exclusively flown that aircraft during my time here at DVA take pride in identifying with such a fine piece of equipment. Please advise whether this is permissible.

OR, you can have it say "Captain CRJ Series," or "Captain CRJ-200/700/900." Just a few more ideas for ya!

Thanks for the suggestion sir. But honestly, I really never fly the 200 or 900 series and I don't know if RW CRJ pilots are issued type-specific certification, or an all inclusive certification (like with the A320/18/19 series). Thanks again Chief.

I listed my favorites, but left out the rank.

I plan to be Captain soon biggrin

I figured rank on here would be like a Private in the Army sewing on his rank.

It will say . . . "Captain 737" then listed below, 757, 767

Thanks for the suggestion John. Rank is relative in my opinion. Certainly when compared to any RW pilot, any of us here, from the greenest FO to the most veteran Senior Captain are amateurs at best. Within the internal structure of the VA however, I think rank should be important and I do believe it has significance for many virtual pilots here who put forth the effort to advance in rank, not to necessarily obtain equipment eligibility, but rather so as to achieve that mark of distinction. I did anyways. Just my opinion.

Haha thanks for the input Sr. CPT Kaufmann. I know one of the requirements is to display your equipment program somewhere in the signature line and I just wanted to be certain whether what Stephan was proposing to do for me was consitent with SOP.

Yes he is Remy. In point of fact, he was advertising his free signature creation services over in the 737 forums, and was initially soliciting interested pilots in that program. Go post in his "signature" thread over there or just email him, I'm sure he's be happy to accommodate you. BTW, my new sig is evidence of his high quality work.

There is actually no requirement or rules for signatures other than the picture(s) used must be your own or with permission from the owner.

Hey Stephan, would you mind doing an Apollo themed sig? Here is a screenshot you can use and if you have a better picture of an Apollo service/command module then go for it. As for text all I would like is for my name and perhaps "going beyond the wild blue yonder"

I wouldn't say that: there are several members, including myself, who are real world commercial pilots; some of us even hold the real world type ratings for the airplanes we fly here.

And as far as the non real world pilots here, DVA prides itself on training and knowledge; AOPA did a cool video the other day where they had a private pilot land an airliner in the Level D simulator, so you never know what someone with even a little knowledge and training could be capable of.

I'd have to chime in as well - you don't know what you don't know. There are quite a number of us with ratings matching what we fly here - and other ratings.

AOPA, CAT, FAA, Flight Safety and other aviation organizations are now aware of the "hobby" of virtual aviation simulation (fancy word for what we do at DVA) and are learning about all the things that our hobby can provide to the real world aviation community. DVA and the flight academy are working with some of these organizations to provide input to them on how to retain pilots and also encourage others to get into the industry.....stay tuned...! biggrin
