Hello,

I have been getting a lot of Nvidia driver crashes lately (version 275.33). I right now have this card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127534 and this Power Supply: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817152042 The minimum 12V current rating for the card is 24A, and the minimum total output is 450W.

Please help me with this.

Thanks,

DVA6102

Sorry...the link for your PSU is toast.

Is 275.33 the latest? ....if not update it. If it is, try rolling back the driver to the previous version.

If you haven't done so already, open your computer case and blow out all the dust and junk.

275.33 is indeed the latest. I tried rolling back and forth with drivers, but it didn't work.

This link to the PSU works: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817152042

Also, the computer is brand new, and there isn't any dust in it.

The PSU that I'm referring to is a 700W... but I don't know if it's compatible with the card or not, which is what I want to know.

If the computer is brand new then it is under warranty is it not? ....your PSU is adequate. Sorry, with out the computer infront of me I can't help you...the root cause could be anything, would need to be troubleshooted.

I built my own computer. The VGA card is under warranty, so I've decided to RMA it. Thanks!

I don't see why it wouldn't be compatable. I've never heard of an issue where a video card has had power supply issues other than drawing more current than the psu allows. I know this isn't the root of your question but it may come in handy sometime. This is a calculator I use when building custom machines for clients: http://educations.newegg.com/tool/psucalc/index.html

But, looking at the link you gave you might actually need the PCIe connector. Not sure which one of those you bought. Some have them, some don't. Sorry, I have gotten out of the business of building and haven't done much with PCIe. AGP was still the hot topic when I was working.

With a 700W psu and the card requiring only a 450W power pack I don't think that's your problem. Still sounds to me like a driver issue.

Install a GTX 580 with a 600W PSU. Running a Phenom BE @ 4.2. You will quickly find out a Video Card can pull so much power Hoover Dam pulls down, well not quite. Video Cards, specially the larger ones, draw nuclear type power. I now have a 900w corsair. Oversized, Yes. Ready for next build Yes

I also have a computer with a GTX 470. It had a 500W PSU when I installed it.. Wouldnt take it! Blue screens, video anomlies etc. monitored the 12V rail and it would drop to almost 10V. it now has a 750W PSU. Runs great. I beLieve in spare power and it can actually be more efficient. then again sim room is constant 67 degrees yr araound. The old 450 PSU is in my third networked sim computer with a 8800 smile

Video cards alone now days have more computing power than the computers that put a man on the moon!

To get 12V ratings, should I add the +12V1 and the +12V2 ratings? Because 12V1 is 23.0A and 12V2 is also 23.0A...
