Good morning,

I was curious if there was a way to figure out which specific aircraft is flying a certain routing. I know the likes of Continental provides a fleet number on their flight data page, but I was curious if there was a way that we can find out which Delta aircraft is flying a certain route. I could have sworn that there was a way to see which Delta aircraft was flying what flight, but for the life of me I cannot figure out where I looked to find that information out.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

No not just flight aware. I am looking to figure out which actual "N-number" is flying the route. Because, I like to take the aircraft reg., go to flightaware.com and then I like to see the rest of the routing of the aircraft to just give me ideas. I have done it before, it is just I cannot figure out which website it is that tracks these sort of things.

I'm not saying it's impossible, but that's not information the airlines and (more importantly) DHS wants you to have anymore.

If the ideas you're talking about are something like coming up with the schedule to fly on a given day to simulate what RW pilots do, keep in mind that pilots swap aircraft too. I've done a 5 leg day on 5 different planes. The plane has a schedule (which is fluid do to equipment swaps for maintenance and other issues), and the pilots have a schedule (which is fluid as well).

Flight aware gives the N-registration but not very long before departure. Basically, when the airline dispatch files a flight plan. So no, there is no way of knowing far in advance what ship will operate what route.

I like looking up the N numbers of the aircraft in my FS fleet. I have found out that my QualityWings 752WL Skyteam livery, N717TW, is usually flying SFO-JFK-SFO. I also look up my iFly 738 Skyteam livery, N3765, and see that it's flying all over the place. You can never tell where a specific N number is going to be flying, but I have seen a few that fly a specific route.
