I'm having issues with FSX ever since I purchased it. Every 20-40 hrs of flight it locks up which is very frustrating. Nothing like flying for a couple of hours only to abort the flight. After I ctrl-alt-del I can restart FSX and fly another 20-40 hrs until it locks up again. I have been in contact with Microsoft Tech Support and they have been trying to help. Has anyone else had this issue and been able to resolve it? I have an brand new computer with a good graphics card and I'm using Windows 7. Thanks.

Run as admin... seems to bypass all the little things that may cause it to lock

FSX is always going to crash, even on the best systems. I would do the UIAutomationcore.dll fix - that greatly reduced crashes for me.

I have tried running as admin and it made no change. What is the UIAutomationcore.dll fix? Am I to understand that all of you have crashes as well? How many hours of flight do you get between crashes? Thanks for the help.

FSX is a poorly coded software.. Microsoft would be lying if they told you they didn't know that.

You can email me at uberwagn@gmail.com or add me to MSN using the same email and I will get you through the UIAutomationcore.dll fix and hopefully it will help. The main issue is that if you use the drop down menus in-flight too much, FSX will crash.

Well - than I guess I am the exception...if you have your system set up right - it should do just fine. I ran FSX when it first came out on a very basic WXP laptop and it ran - granted I didn't try to max it out - I took a conservative approach.

One thing that does happen, however, is that if you do not have adequate cooling FSX will do exactly what you are describing. One way to help this issue is to get more fans and more maneuver space for the air to circulate in your machine, the other is to minize FSX while yo are flying if you need to walk away for a while - this will take the processing load off your system until you come back.

I appreciate your response. I'm trying to figure out how it is that my system may not be set up right. I have a brand new computer with very little on it. I have contacted Microsoft support on 2 occasions and they have not been able to resolve this problem. Also, I have read many different forums and many people are having the same issue. I have to believe that someone has a resolution. May I ask what it is that you've done to set up your system? I really enjoy flying and love DVA. Thank you in advance for your help and I look forward to your response.
