I am having all sorts of problems with my FS9 since getting my new pc running windows 7 64 bit. to start with everything seemed ok but as i have installed more payware things have gone wrong! After llooking at many hours of reviews on google i thought it best to install on my main harddrive but create a new folder called FS9 due to the security issues with using the "program files" or "program files x86" and install to that, everything was ok until i came to install my PMDG 737, i successfully installed the 736/7 base pack but when i came to install the 738/9 pack it keeps telling me i havent installed the base pack, likewise the Level d base will install but when i try to install the service packs it cannot recognise my computer having a level d installation, and so on, this is happening with virtually every payware add-on i own including REX and ASE not even reconising a FS9 installation. I have no idea how to resolve this but am becoming an extremely irate simmer as at the moment i feel my £600 i spent on my new system is becoming a complete waste of time and money as i can't even fly using payware.
Am i wrongly following the advice all over google and installing to an incompatible place, but the advice tells me that for security reasons to do this, where have you windows 7 users installed your FS9/FSX?
Any help at all from Windows 7 users would be really gratefull as i had zero problems when running my old system on XP

I have win 7 but havent come across any problems instlling fsx or fs9... I do however have each program on seperate drives. FSx is on my solid state and FS9 is on my 500g. Both have gone into seperate x86 files on each drive. When you install them, make sure to change the drive location by using the custom install button in the installer.
You shouldnt have to create that fs9 folder... it should automatically create when you put the first disc in...
One more thing I thought of that I read somewhere is to reboot after installing each component... FSX on drive 1, reboot, fs9 on drive 2, reboot, rex for fsx, reboot, overdrive 2.0, reboot and so on.. not sure how much that actually helps but I did it and have no problems with either... also a thing to check is defragging your drives.. I did that right after i installed FSX since its an enormous program. Let me know if any of this helps...
As far as the pmdg problem, i really cant say much...I dont have the 737 from them.. I have the iFly.. I do have the PMDG md11 on both systems but not having any problems...
I hope you get it figgerd out...

They must have been talking about one of the earlier versions of windows or something... On my old rig, installed with win98, when I installed FSX and FS9 they didnt go into an x86 folder, so that has to be something with win7. I noticed it when I installed on my new rig and thought it was odd but went with it...
