I am having some trouble with the PMDG MD-11. The fuselague textures and the front wing textures are looking a little blurry, however the rest of the plane looks great for example the rudder and the engines. I tried installing some of the textures from the PMDG site for the FSX version (I am using FSX) and they too came out blurry. I have tried re-installing the plane but the textures came out blurrt again. If my computer can take the Level-D 767 textures then shouldn't the PMDG be the same? I hope PMDG didn't just make the textures that way.

Thanks for your help in advance!

YES! I am using DX10 and I also see the green stripe! Is there a way to fix it?

Uncheck DX10 in the settings menu.... there really isnt much difference between 9 and 10... I uncheck it and most programs run flawlessly on DX9.

Settings-customize- then on the right hand side in with lens flare and light bloom... All 3 of those will eat frames as well so I recommend uncheckin all 3...
If you are flying the Level D right now, you are gonna love the md11... system is completly different but works the same and once you learn how to use it, ill be easier than boeings...

I can't seem to find the DX10 checkbox in the FSX settings menu. I went to Settings-Customize. I browsed through all the tabs and didn't find it. Am I looking in the wrong place?

I have acceleration installed. I think acceleration also puts in SP1 and SP2.

Yeah it does... im doing this from memory right now so please excuse any mistakes...look under the graphics tab in you customize settings... itll have your card name and framerate limt settings and other info... look to the right of that and it should be there above lens flare and whatnot... after you check it, it will prompt you to restart fsx to update settings...restart fsx and you should be better off

click Settings- click customize at the bottom that will take you to the settings display page under the graphics tab on the right side you will have global options.. 4 check boxes in that section (preview directX 10, lens flare, light bloom, advanced animations) Uncheck the first 3 and leave advanced animations checked...

The DX10 in fsx is only a preview..once again the game is too old for the technology... When are you getting the blurry textures? in game or just at the start up screen?

I get the blurry textures when I set up any flight with the PMDG MD11 and look at the aircraft from any external view

My textures in spot view are a little blurry but not too bad when viewed from a certain angle... I think the delta ribbons livery might be a little off. Ive downloaded a few of them and thats the olny one I get the green stripe on... try the atl olympics one and see if thats blurry too...

Well the textures did improve but they still look blurry. I get the same thing with the default PMDG livery. I am using this livery... go to AVSIM.com and search "delta pmdg md 11" in the FSX repaints section and it's the one labeled. -Delta Airlines McDonnell Douglas MD-11 N812DE HD

try pulling one off the pmdg site... I generally stick to those since they come from the manufacturer. Ive had alot of luck with the world airways model...looks wonderful.
I would say just keep changing settings until you get what you want... most of the tweaking comes from trial and error so you may just have to sit there and figger out what works best with you machine... Ive unistalled and reinstalled everything a few time to get it the way I like it...

Found your answer....

"As can be seen on these screenshots; at many places on the fuselage, wing, tail etc. it looks a little blurry. Based on the known PMDG quality and let’s say the 744X model, I was wondering what’s wrong here or what I did wrong. With this “doubt” I went to Robert Randazzo and I got the following answer “The MD-11 liveries are slightly lower in resolution than the 744X. This was an intentional choice to save on some texture overhead. The house livery is bip mapped, so if the user doesn't have selected antistrophic filtering mid to high, and if the airplane is viewed at an angle, the livery may appear a bit blurred. This too was a choice based on performance. No point in loading up 2x 1024x1024 bitmaps when viewing the aircraft from afar. We got to squeeze out fps where we can”.

No prob but from what I read, theres not much you can do about it since PMDG does their best work in the cockpit... Good luck!!
