Hey everybody,
well, now is the time, after having this horrible Dell Vostro 1720 laptop that can hardly handle FSX on its lowest settings for 3 years i am ready to buy a nice desktop beast, the only problem is, i dont know what to get. i either want a Dell or a Jetline System Computer. I have figured out the build i am going to have and wanted to know if it looked like a good one (i am not a wiz with computers). if you have any suggestions on a better model, or brand computer then please advise me on what it is. thanks so much, and hopefully by the end of november i will have a nice new rig for some serious Simming.

Alienware is not good value for the money.
What you want is an i5-2600 system, a GTX580, 8GB of RAM and a decent HD. Find the cheapest system that'll give you this.
Cheers!

Remy,
Coincidentally, I was also built via Alienware and then tried to match up comparable items via Newegg. My question for the experts is, if cost is not a consideration, is there an advantage the i7-2600 has over the i9 990x Extreme? What I really want is a one-time buy for a system that will absolutely crush FS9 >and< FSX, so if the 990x is the answer or tri-crossfire or a couple voodoo dolls, I will do that to "finally" get that MSFS killer with every add-on running, flying into KJFK during peak hours with all sliders maxed out.
Cheers!!

Spend around 3000.00 and find you get no better performance than around 1000.00!

build it yourself, save money. 2600k is not necessary since fsx doesnt take advantage of hyperthreading. go with the 2500k.
