That's a terrible computer for the price, man. The 2600 is not even a K version, and it has no graphics card.

Man Sany roard Fan boys! Add a Nvidia 470 video card and you would have a very nice FSX computer for around 899.00. I've built many, many computers for myself and others!

900 for a computer that cant be overclocked.. he'll get less than 15fps in intensive aircraft and scenery.

That Looks like a great computer, though the only problem there is that there is no video card but I guess you could get one later on. Though you could save some money and build a computer but if you don't want to then go a website like ncix.com or such where you select the parts and they build it for you. All in all I think fsx will fly on that machine and you will be getting 20+ frames and about the overclocking well that doesn't matter since really you have a top of the line CPU and overclocking would reduce the life spam of that so your set. biggrin
And like I said later on you could get a graphics card, te new nvidea cards are coming out soon so you could wait for those.

overclocking doesn't reduce lifespan by much.. we're talking about maybe 8+ years on a default clock.. down to 6 years when overclocked.. by then it's already time to upgrade again. I would advise against this particular computer.

Cody - a graphics card is entirely dedicated to the production of your screen image, the graphics option on the PC you are looking at is 'hard wired' to the motherboard and as such will put a bit of a drain on resources. A dedicated card will generally have faster processing power plus more and faster graphics memory. Flight Sim does not tend to perform as well with on-board graphics.

Alan thanks for the explanation! This is very foreign to me. So to make sure im understanding this right I should buy another graphics card? If so which one do you reccomend. Thanks for your patience!

Cody - I'll have a look at the machine you are looking at and see if I can make any suggestions, is $700 your total budget? I use an i5 2600k which I overclocked slightly together with an Nvidia 560 Graphics card - I get more than acceptable performance with FSX with detail turned up pretty much to the max. My Pireps say I am averaging around 30fps.

Edit - do you already have an Operating system install disk? or are you looking for something with W7 installed?

Cody - IMHO this is better vlaue for money http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883229266

and if your budget can stretch to it this is even better http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/system/Mega_Special_II/

Bear in mind that I am in the UK so my knowledge of US retailers is somewhat limited - hopefully someone else can chime in with some thoughts.

Not a problem Cody - Do a bit of research if you like the Cyberpower PC - it does have some indifferent reviews on NewEgg. Do you know anyone that could help put a pc together for you - NewEgg have some good combo deals on components also. Come back to me if you need anything further.

Okay - having looked at Cyberpower one thing you may want to look at is if getting an i5 2500k and having it pre-overclocked rather than getting an i7 might be a better approach.

Before ordering Cody - I would contact cyberpower just to put a name on some of the parts - Graphics Card primarily - then just check out some reviews that they are not going to provide you with a substandard model.

Here's one for the motherboard to get you started!! http://www.anandtech.com/show/4330/asus-p8z68v-review

Edit: And the all important conclusion page for the CPU cooler http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/cooling/2009/07/29/corsair-hydro-h50-cpu-cooler-review/6

And as I previously mentioned I am on the expensive side of the pond - getting that sort of spec for that money in the UK would take some effort, but check out Cyberpower, what is their aftersales like? Tech Support? You don't want to have a problem and be stuck with it!

Come back here or email me directly if you have any further questions - I'm more than happy to help.

As it stands, what I have spec'd out there does NOT include any overclocking, speakers or monitor, so check you are okay in that department. A small overclock is easily achievable with a bit of research, so you could save yourself some cash there. The i5 2500K overclocks very well so you shouldn't have any problems. Another thing to think about is if you can swing for an extra $60 the 560gtx is a better graphics card.
