I haven't used it in awhile, but it is a cool product. It is a nice alternative if your not always able to use VATSIM. My only complaint is for example, at MSP, ATC will often use rw 04, which really isn't used except for the 747. I wish there was a way to manipulate it so it would use the correct runway..

Its pretty good, used it a ton before I started flying online. Havn't used it since though...

Anyways I would recomend it. Light years better than FSX atc.

Thanks guys. One of these days I will build up the nerve to do online flying. Just a little intimidating right now.

If you will allow me, I would like to recommend VOX ATC. It's basically a voice-recognition software designed for FSX. It is a bit expensive, but worth every penny to me. I use it most of the time since VATSIM controllers aren't online when I fly during the day. It is incredibly intuitive, giving the correct runways depending on the weather, altitudes, speeds, etc. The phraseology is right-on compared to real-world ATC and would help you get ready to fly online. After using VOX ATC you would feel quite confident changing frequencies, repeating clearances, and the other various aspects of online ATC. There's only one problem with it, which isn't a problem to me, but you must have a sound card and a headset that plugs into it. It will not work with a USB headest. The USB headest initializes your computer's voice-recognition software and will cause problems with the sound in FSX. I love to use it, and do if I'm not flying online on VATSIM.

I'd second what Steven says about VoxATC, it has its flaws but is still more 'realistic' feeling than
RC4 (which I also have but have stopped using). It will actually assign you a SID and STAR on the
fly if its setup right, and as Steven said, its refreshing to use voice rather than just hitting some
number keys.

It is weak on two areas: first the ground/taxi control of AI can be flakey, unlike the builtin it does
NOT seem to be aware of what other planes are doing on the ground. It does direct you to the
runway you are assigned however (something RC4 does not do). A second issue I've had is sometimes
when you are in approach it does not seem to be careful about MSA and will have you descending
lower than is safe.

All that being said, its still preferable to RC4 in my book, yes, its a bit pricey, but I've felt it worth
the money spent. Oh, and I am not sure what Steven means about USB not working, I have a
USB headset and it works for me, well, except I can't seem to get the voice only in the USB
speakers, I just direct all sound output to my external speakers and use the USB mic.

Jack,

I get a horrible distortion with lots of static with FSX engine sounds when using my USB headest. Saitek recommended using a sound card with a headest that would plug into it, which fixed the problem. This static could be the result of using a headset specifically made for voice recognition by Microsoft, but nevertheless, with the new headset I don't get the static.

Bryan, I use RC4. You can type in the departure and arrival runways you would like to use, and the program will respond appropriately. If you forget to do that, you can also request the runway you want when they hand you over to approach.
