Howdy. I was recently given a Saitek X52 Pro, but when I tried to set it up, the joystick was not recognized. No matter what I do, only the throttle is recognized. I am running it through a USB-PS/2 adapter as my computer cannot accept PS/2 but I do not think that is the problem as the joystick still has power. It lights up but it's as if it doesn't even exist. This is really driving me up the wall.
Thanks,
Nicholas

Hey Nicholas,
So I don't have that particular joystick, but I did have the same problem, it's the USB plug, as I was told by logitech when I had the problem, it's that the metal strips on the plug are not connected properly to the wires going into the joystick that controls it, so the computer cannot recognize the joystick, so I am thinking that one of yours is working, which is the one that goes to the throttle control, and the rest are not connected properly. If it is not that than your computers USB slot might be fouled up. Hope this helps, it helped me, but I then had to buy a new joystick because it was defective.

I have already tried switching around the USB ports. When I plug it in the controller lights up, but the rest is no go. Perhaps I should mention I am using XP. Buying another joystick is not an option for me as I cannot afford it; I was lucky enough to get the one I have now.

I will be calling tech support tomorrow, but I think they are going to have to send me a new set up. If anyone has any input, feel free to chime in.

Nicholas, if you are using Windows XP, go into your Control Panel -> Printers and other hardware -> Game Controllers. See if your system picks up the X52 joystick. If it is there, then delete them both (throttle/joystick). Unplug your X52 from your computer.
Restart your computer. Go back to your control panel, etc. etc. Now plug in your X52 and see if Windows recognizes the hardware. You should also see it pop up in the Game Controllers window. If for some reason it does not show up, try adding the controller by following the on-screen prompts.
Here's to hoping this helps you out.
Cheers.

Your computer does not accept PS2 connection? Well that is understandable. Just wondering what you are trying to hook up with the adapter? I have the X52 flight control (not the Pro) one controller feeds into the other and then feed to the computer via a USB connection.

James you have figured out the problem. Neither I nor the other two people helping me saw that plug in on the front of the throttle.
Thank you everyone else for the input!
Nicholas

Devil was in the details and you left the bread crumb of PS2 and the PS2 is a slowing going away especially for connecting directly to the computer.
Glad I could help you as I know that controllers cost a pretty penny for decent ones.
