Hello fellow pilots. I have been experiencing many unfortunate issues with fsx lately and have managed to resolve several of these, with the gracious and wise advice from other DVA members, yet continue to have one crash inducing issue outstanding. Typically fsx will run very well for the first 1.5-2 hours of a flight and then it will automatically exit out to windows and restart the game. ACARS is likewise unresponsive when this occurrs, yet I can restore the flight. The event viewer indicated that this problem is one which arises from the file identified as simconnect.dll. I should also mention that this crash only occurrs when running fsx in tandem with ACARS. I have consulted other online forums and a few recommend reinstalling SP2, which I've done.

I know many of you posses expert knowledge regarding technical aspects of the fsx program files and was wondering if anyone has a possible solution for this problem. I should also mention that I'm asking for help here because I believe it's one of the best resources on the internet in terms of seeking viable solutions to fsx related problems precisely because of the helpfulness and skill of those who frequent these forums. Thank you for reading.

Vincenzo, you seem to be rather like my guardian angel when it comes to fsx crashes and errors! Thanks for the link but none of those guys discuss the simconnect.dll file in particular to my case. I've actually consulted Microsofts website and their official position is basically "we know there's an error with this file but don't know how to fix it so good luck trying". Any suggestions?

OK now it seems as though I'm going to need the fsx acceleration pack to remedy this problem, at least according to some sources out there. That may be true, since before I had to uninstall fsx I did in fact have the AP and I never had these issues then, although I also only flew crj700 flights (<1.5 hours). Does this sound like a sensible solution?

Jeff
I did suggest you to reinstall FSX a couple of weeks ago and I still stand there ......I know is tedious but you have to!

Regarding ACARS, I remember that build 11 was freezing FSX on final ...make sure you have the latestbuild!

I did reinstall, pursuant to your advice and I am using build 99 of ACARS 2.2. I suppose I'll just have to get my hands on that acceleration pack...
