I had a problem and had to do a reinstall of flight sim x and other add on aircraft. I have flight sim x vista 64 service pack 2 installed . Since I did this I now have to set the direct X setting to on or I get a black box where the aircraft is loaded on the opening screen weather it is default or add on aircraft.So with Direct X setting to off I get black and with it on it is OK. Is this OK to have it this way ? are there pros and cons on this . Is there something I can do to get it back the way it was before ? Am I missing something?

You have to set the DX setting on WHERE? In the sim or system settings?

In the Sim. when I open up fsx and do other settings before flight .

So you mean the "Preview DX10" ? I would go to microsoft and install the latest DX drivers.
