Does anyone have feedback on running FSX on a Mac? Can the PC FSX run through Windows on a Mac, and how is the performance / speed?

There are several Mac users here who run Bootcamp and get good performance with FS.

I've run FS9 and FSX on both my Macs through bootcamp. Works just fine as long as you've got the horsepower to run the sim. My Core2 Duo MacBookPro struggles a bit with FSX and advanced addons, but FS9 is just fine. Even my Quad Xeon MacPro stutters occasionally with FSX (but then again, it was built in 2006 and doesn't have much in the way of a graphics card). I ended up fixing up and upgrading a Windows machine I had kicking around (3.4 Phenom II x4 + 4GB ram + GTX260) to run FS, it was a lot cheaper than upgrading one of the Macs. Price/performance you're definitely better off with a dedicated Windows machine to run FSX, but if you just want one box you can definitely do it on a Mac.

Michael, you may want to touch base with Andy Kaufmann on this issue....he is somewhat of a subject matter expert on FS9/FSX and Macs....

thanks everyone for the feedback... I had thought maybe the Mac issue had been discussed, but I had not caught the thread. I am leaning toward the PC for FSX and get the Mac for other...

Mike, there are a bunch of threads on this topic - however, I run FSX and FS9 on a Macbook Pro through bootcamp on a WinXO platform with no issues whatsoever.

Any one running FSX or FS9 on an iMac? RAM and processor speed on your system? Thinking about getting a 27" iMac and running FS through bootcamp. Searching the threads for info, but see very little. Trying to figure out if the 3.1 i5 processor will be enough or if I should spring for the 3.4 i7.

I run bootcamp with FSX on Windows XP and I'm happy. My MacBook Pro is a few years old so I can't run it maxed out, but it's fine for me. I plan on getting an iMac in the future so that'll run it better. As far as the i5 vs i7 I'd go with the 27 w/ the i7 if you can afford it. Your also getting a better graphics card. If you have money to spend I'd add the SSD to run fsx on that.

I also run both FSX and FS9 on a MacBook Pro laptop. Runs like a dream. I run Windows7 in Bootcamp. I would highly recommend the MAC for flight sim. The performance is very hard to beat.

FS X is compatible with Mac. The only problem is that you would have to buy a copy of Windows for a hundred bucks and then install FS X. Thats at least $100! I would suggest that someone from the airline
should make our fleet X-Plane compatible. Because some of us don't have the money to spend $100+ on getting FS X to work on a Mac

Cheers
