What is considered a "valid" leg, is there distance and flight hours requirements to be met?

Are you talking about a valid leg for promotion to Captain?

If so it needs to be at least 150 Nautical Miles (172.6 Statute Miles)

Steve, a valid leg is a leg in which you use an aircraft you are type rated in, the aircraft can safely make it to the destination with legal fuel reserves, and you actually arrive at point b from point a safely. There are different requirements for a leg to be eligible toward the promotion to captain, and you can find those requirements in the notams.

I have completed more than five legs in the EMB-120, but the Program Eligibility page states that I have not completed five legs for promotion?

In your logbook, next to the flight, there are little symbols. If there is a little green arrow, that flight is counting towards you promotion. Make sure you fly flights that are long enough, as James said.

In my log book, there are red, yellow, and green vertical bars, if this is what you mean, I have 11 green vertical bars. Some of the flights were not long enough, but it still shows as a red, yellow, and green vertical bars.

You already have the EMB-120 rating ....what specifically is the goal here? CRJ Captain? EMB-120 Captain?

Steve,
For transfer laterally or to lower stages you need 5 eligible flights in your current program in order to apply. You currently have 1 eligible flight in the CRJ that was flown using ACARS. Fly 4 more valid flight legs, greater than 150NM, using ACARS, then you can request additional ratings or transfer to the EMB-120 program. In your pilot profile there is a tool, Promotion Eligibility, that provides you with specific needs for each possible change.
