I just found this out today. I have a pretty high end computer and I was noticing I couldn't get my FPS above 9 or 10. I am using an external limiter which is set to 30 FPS and the FSX slider is set to unlimited. So I was playing around with it today and what I usually do is take my radio stack or GPS map, undock it and move it to another screen. Thats when I take a HUGE hit on FPS. If I take them and move them back onto the original screen FSX is flying on my FPS goes from 95 to 115. Does that seem reasonable for such a significant FPS hit by just moving it to a different screen or do I have something set up wrong?????? I am also in windows mode.

I always use 2 screens for all my throttles, gps, acars, etc...I have never been over 14 FPS. So I guess its possible, I would love to see what 95 to 115 looks like, but I'm used to it at my speed. I also fly in windows mode

I've seen that happen on a computer my brother built. He was using an HD monitor as his main display and a monitor that was about 10 years old as his secondary. We suspected, but were unable to confirm (because we didn't have a second HD monitor) that because the second monitor didn't have the same resolution capabilities as the primary, FS was automatically downgrading the display settings. This was when he was running one graphics card, we haven't tried again since he's added a second. This is pretty much conjecture. But yes, I have seen this problem.

Hey Joseph, That may very well be the problem becasue right now my main display is an HD monitor and my second one is not. I have 3 HD monitors on the way so I'll be able to verify in a few weeks. Thank you all for your responses.

The more monitor resolution you add, the more the video card has to work - crossfire or SLI would benfit you if using more than 2 monitors as you can hook up the main monitor to the first card, and the other 2 to the 2nd card.

You wouldn't see a difference between ~30fps and 115 fps as the human eye can only see about 30 fps

So that's why my vision is all jerky, I need more RAM in my head

OK update for me, Ive been using FSPS Booster on my system to help boost frame rate. Well I accidently forgot to start the FSPS the other night, now Im getting 30-90 fps without it. I can move windows around to different monitors, and no frame drops. HAPPY HAPPY!
