As some of you may know, I recently reinstalled my OS, and with it, an excuse for a clean install of FSX. I have most of my addons reinstalled and for the most part looking pretty good. In fact, I've even got to the point where I can run the NGX with FSDT JFK and Aerosoft Manhattan X plus REX and after about 5 minutes after loading the situation, I get pretty decent frames. The waiting is essential since upon loading there are a lot of stutters and freezes but after the initial loading of weather files and NGX files, everything looks great with upper teens for frames. Not great, but liveable. I haven't tried it with much traffic or adverse weather, but that will come.

FS9 is a much different story. I can run all the most intensive addons and not have anything stutter. The problem is, I see people that have really great looking screen shots and I compare them to mine and theirs look much better. I've asked around in other places before but haven't really got any straight answers. Given the variety of addon programs, what settings should I use to get things looking as realistic as possible? I have the usual ground and sky enhancements and the sky looks good, but ground textures are always blurry and at further distances really start to deteriorate. So leaving a list of programs and settings for those up to all of you, what changes should I make within the various programs and fs9.cfg that get the best results? Thanks.
