I have used my dads ASUS laptop before I built my desktop as a test to see what if that would be good enough for playing fs on.

Here is the newer version.

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1219111&CatId=4938

It runs fsx good, and the i7 does a great job, but for the same price you could build a sick desktop. I don't suggest a laptop for gaming because it cost so much you can almost buy a cheap laptop for school(if thats your plan) and then build a cheap desktop and still save money over getting a gaming laptop. I built a computer for my friend on tigerdirect well have all the parts pickout with the windows OS its like $650 or something and thats with a gtx 560 graphics card, and a decent processor that falls between the i3s, and the upper i5.

I would recommend www.digitalstormonline.com. I bought one of their desktops and the support has been amazing. Granted they are a little more expensive but they know gaming machines (laptops or desktops).

I just bought a Dell XPS 17 and I get 30-60 fps with it. I'm not really using it for fsx but I have it one there in case I travel and want to fly.

To be honest any i7 with a non Intel hd graphics setup will do fine...I would stray away from alienware due to price vs performance which is true at least for the desktops you can build your own for half the price which leaves a ton of room for really big upgrades.

I would really stray away from laptops for graphics though...you could build a nice desktop with a i7 2600k for like $900 and to get the same performance in fsx with a laptop will easily cost $2,000.

That sony is nice, and I have a vaio laptop for school just an i3 and it is built really nicely. That VAIO has the same processor as the ASUS but has a older Videocard GT 540 Vs the 560, 6gb of ram vs the ASUS 8, the ASUS also has blueray, and the USB 3.0. Also i think the sony has DDR3 gpu while the ASUS is ddr5 which is much faster. The 560M is about on par with a GTX 460 for the desktop. I if you are looking to save money the Sony is $250 cheaper but when you look at features you really do get alot more with the ASUS.

Louis,
I get amazing features and HD colorful display while playing on the Sony Vaio that I mentioned. It is really fast for me and has the USB3.0. But I`m sure that ASUS can provide better equipment. I just don`t trust on the brand.
The only thing that called my attention was this setup: 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7-2670QM quad-core processor (3.1 GHz with Turbo Boost Technology; 6 MB L3 cache).

wink

I understand about the brand thing from when I have used my dads ASUS its about a year old now and still running strong. Same with my VAIO though still works just fine my brother got a Samsung laptop about the same price range and that thing falls apart harddrive failing ect ect so the other two held up much better. But the Samsung and my VAIO were only like $500 compared to the ASUS $1300 price tag, I am sure the higher end Samsungs hold up better or now ;s.

My wife have a Sony Vaio since 2008 and still running very good and never gave her one problem. Samsung`s laptop (no way Jose)!
Actually, I was going to buy one ASUS with GTX 580, but for the price I decide the VAIO.
