Hello there,

I´ve noticed that there is a B787 within the fleet installers, but I have not seen it mentioned anywhere else in the aircraft programs. I know that Delta has not ordered any yet and that´s maybe why it doesn´t have its own program, but... if it is in the fleet... who is actually "rated" to fly it?!

Thanks and regards to everyone,
Filipe Messias

No one (that is, they can't file a valid report with it). That's been in there for a while. Once the RW Delta or one of its codeshares begins operating the 787, we'll be able to get the ratings.

Last I saw, Delta still has an order for 18 787 (-8 or -9), but pushed the deliveries back to 2020 and later. The order was inherited from NWA.

Never noticed the 787 installer ....if we can not log flights with the 787 why is an installer for it in the fleet library?

Yeah, originally ships 4, 6 and 10 I think were supposed to go to Delta (from the inherited NWA order). Delta pushed those deliveries back originally to get birds that were closer weight and range goals. But now Delta's pushed it back even further (in all likelyhood to get -9s instead of the -8s NWA ordered).

I'm hoping its Stage 3. After all, its the 767 replacement. Its VERY close to 767 size, but with far more range. For me, it makes sense to be Stage 3. But since I'm not in charge...

Although it's 767 in size, it's 777 in range, which means longer flights. The real determination is how easy or difficult it is to fly, which no one here really knows.

so if the 787 is replacing the 767 do we get rated for it if we are already rated for the 767?

It's meant to replace the RW 767, and would very likely have it's own program.

From the Flight Test guys I've talked to here at Boeing, its actually a very easy plane to fly. Well, once you get past the new systems architecture. THAT can throw guys for a loop. Of course, these ARE test pilots and their definition of "easy" might not exactly be the same as yours or mine. LOL
