Does anyone know what the entry should be in the FSX.cfg file for processor speed for an Ie7 2600 cpu?

I think you mean the affinity value, Chuck. I'm using a value of 244 for i7-2600k. There are varying opinions on what to use, but I've had good results with it and have read similar experience on other sites. Try adding this value to top of your cfg file:

[JOBSCHEDULER]
AffinityMask=244

I simply mean that when I enable hyperthreading on my i7 and configure FSX to run as such, I get better performance. Not a huge improvement, but I see about a 4-5 fps increase at major airports with full traffic. I'm already at 35+, so it's probably not necessary.

Thanks everyone I will try that. Somewhere ( I will find it and post the reference) there was a reference to entering a remark like "processor speed= 41455". I have an ASUS P8Z68V gen3 motherboard, I7-=2600K CPU, 16 GB DDR3 ram, a GT560 Ti graphics card. When I am online with Vatsim using either my levelD 767, CoolSkye MD80 or Wilco A320, the program locks up if I go to the FSX menu to do anything. If I leave it alone no problems. I have a 64 bit Windowa 7 operating system, and have installed FSX in it's own directory ( not Programs (86).

You mean the menu when you right click? Try this - http://forum.avsim.net/topic/273341-heres-the-apparent-fix-to-fsx-crashing-win-7-x64/

Thanks everyone for their help. I am not sure if it was the addition of the DLL file or the affinity entry in the FSX.cfg file but.................... now no more crashes!!! Thanks again.
