When I'm flying a Delta or a "Operated by Delta Partner SkyWest DBA Delta Connection," flight 4606 from Salt Lake to KC in a CRJ, should my callsign be DAL4606 or SKY4606? I'm assuming the numbers in the callsign is the flight number. Whatever the flight, I've always used DAL and my DVA number, hence DAL1677 to keep it simple. Also, is the latter common or do most of you use more real world callsigns?

As this is a codeshare flight operated by SKY, you should use the SKY callsign. However, it's worth a check on flightaware if delta operates the same flight.

It's personal preference. I, personally, always use the RW flight number and have never used my pilot number. Others, as mentioned by Tom and Chad, prefer to use their pilot number. It's really up to you. Just as long as you don't use DVAxxxx and use DALxxxx instead, nobody will care. smile

Do note that Skywest identifier is "SKW" not "SKY"; so "SKW4606" in your example.

Happy landings!

I also use the real world flight numbers and callsigns, even if the flight would be the codeshare partner's, and not Delta's. Also I check every flight on flightaware to get the latest flight's cruising altitude, flight route, and so on (I've been told that look for the altitude on the graph, and not on the altitude row of the table, because of the stepclimb.).

Know of a good site to get the callsigns and identifiers? If I'm not mistaken, AirTran is called Citrus. For example, where would I fiind out what a comair flight 2214 would be called by atc and what the identifier for comair is?

I use the livery that I'm flying. Mostly I'm flying DAL, but I will fly CPZ while operating the E-Jets out of MSP and DTW and other airlines such as UAL, COA, or AAL when I feel like flying those liveries.

Also, in MOST cases, Flight Aware will show the callsign if you move your mouse over the flight number, when viewing airport traffic. When flying one of these regional partner flights on VATSIM, I'll put the callsign in the 'comments' section, just to help the controller.
