For some odd reason, when I start up FS9 I see the splash screen as usual but now it doesn't go away and a while later I bring up task manager and it says fs9's 'not responding'. So I tried uninstalling fs9 but i get a msg saying 'this program will uninstall Chincul PA-A-38 Tomahawk from your hard drive. Click OK to continue.' I then hit OK. Now its saying it has been successfully removed from my HD and I hit OK once again. Then, nothing. FS9's still there. I try uninstalling it again. Same msg appears about the PA-A-38. Now I don't even know what to do.. I can't run FSX because I hate the frame rates on it. Anyone know anything about this problem or that can help me bypass this and continue with uninstalling fs9? Can't fly until I get this worked out. Thanks!

All most any time you bring up task manager it will tell you that FS9 is not responding ,Which is true because when you open up task manager you pause FS9 which makes it not responding.
Of course by no means does this mean there is a problem with FS9. But I think a reformat is a bit on the overkill side if you ask me. That is like destroying a house because you found 1 roach in it.
Al lot easier to kill the one roach.
In this case a uninstall and reinstall of just FS9 makes more sense to me but maybe that is what he meant.

Gary, he's been trying to unistal and its not. Patrick, before doing a complete reformat, try manually uninstalling it from My Computer. Just delete the whole file.

if you simply delete the folder
that wont really help because it will not
remove anything in the registry or linked files

Obviously you have problem with the add-on...try to uninstall the Tomahawk and see if FS9 comes back to life

You may try also deleting a file called fs9.cfg. At start-up the simulator will generate a dafault one. I guess this is a step before deleting everything. Formatting and reinstalling will work for sure but maybe this process may bring things working again.

One other thing you might try is to delete the FS9 cfg file or better yet just rename it to FS9.bak FS9 will rebuild it upon start up.
But if you can not get FS9 to start up at all then the uninstall and reinstall is your only option left. Just remember to delete the folders left after the uninstall as they will still be there. The last thing I would do is to delete fs9 as that will cause other issues.. Trust me on that I deleted a jpg file and after restarting my system I had all kinds of issues. I would never had guess that a jpg file had ties to other programs I had on my system. And to make matters worse it did not warn me when I deleted it which is really scary.

Well I figured it out. Never thought to manually uninstall fs9 but it worked and I have it all re-installed now. Will have to spend some time putting ad-ons in but at least the problem is fixed. Thanks everyone for your help! Cya'll in the skies.
