Evening everyone,
A quick question born from a curiosity I've had for some time. I currently fly using FS2004, however, all the latest addon software and programs run through FSX mainly. I know therer are performance issues in comparison between the two, but will FSX really slow down my computer. I'm thinking of upgrading but worried I'll have wasted the money and will quickly skip back to FS9.
In short, the question is, is FSX worth the upgrade?
My HP computer is the following spec (I'm not very tech-savvy):
AMD Athlon II x2
215 Processor 2.70GHz
3GB of RAM on a 64bit op system
Cheers

It won't run well on your system, maybe if all your specs are on low. You will probably have nicer visual quality and frames by sticking with FS9. Switch to FSX when you get a new computer.

Yea, I wouldn't upgrade till you upgrade your machine. You're going to be seeing single didget frame rates trying to run FSX on that. Stick with FS9 for now.

I agree with the gents above. I have FS9 running smoothly so I'm hesitant to upgrade to FSX. My laptop has the ram/cpu horsepower but the video card is lacking so I'll stick with what works.

There's still a lot of really great software for Fs9 including a bunch of planes and scenery that arent available for FSX. most developers are still doing both, don't think you'll be missing out on too much.

Hate to disagree with you Luca, for what it's worth, I just purchased an HP Pavillion g7 at Best Buy for $399 and upgraded it to 8 GB RAM for $45 bucks.
AMD A6-3420M APU with Radeon HD 1.5GHz
64 Bit Windows 7 Professional
It's running FSX just fine.
I used to have a Macbook Pro with FS on it on my Windows side, and it ran well on that as well - but have since given that computer to my son for college.

glad to hear Andrew, maybe i've spent that sum with a little more powerful processor (3.40 ghz), and more than 100 bucks for the cooler. Another expensive stuff was the 2 giga video card.
Have a nice day!
