I thought I would thank the people here who have helped me. But do to real world conflicts I am here by resigning from delta VA.
I am aware of the leave of absence but I just no longer have the time.
One of the things that I did not like about this airline was the test you had to take if you wanted to be able to fly a different aircraft other than the ones you were rated in.
I always thought that any VA was about having fun and flying with out having a master degree in aerodynamics.
Even using the manuals and other information I could not pass any of the tests. This is a VA and not a real world aircraft why do I need to know how much fuel it takes to get from point a to point b as long as I select the proper aircraft and the correct fuel load?

I was going to type out a long reply and try to help you out but since you are resigning you probably will never see my reply nor reply back.

Good luck to you.

Best of luck Gary. Don't give up. Just look at my testing log and you'll see many failures. As Thomas Edison used to say, when he invented the light bulb, that he learned 2000 ways NOT to make the lightbulb.

Don't give up, Gary! It's rather difficult but the whole scenery becomes clearer and clearer. I hope to see you around. I'm at the rock bottom but if you think I may help you, drop me a line. I'll be glad to guide you through my few first steps.

Fernando, it is people like you here ay DVA that makes it all worth it. There are many like you and for you Gary, I wish you all the best and believe me i understand the learning curve here can be steep but it is what this VA is all about; learning . . aviation. . . . And having fun too.

Take care.

I don't have a degree in anything and yet I learned quite quickly how to do fuel calculations, for me it adds to the realism and helps satisfy my dreams of being a RW pilot, the check rides are fantastic, I'd never imagine being allowed to jump in a 747 without being passed fit to fly it, there is the ultimate balance here between fun and realistic operations, I always tend to prefer the latter, also the fellow pilots here are so wonderful that I wouldn't feel comfortable representing any other VA, rather than leave altogether why not just log in every now and then and one day you might regain your enthusiasm

That's just what I like here. You have to learn something before you can fly any other aircraft and also having fun too. I just love this VA.

Good luck to you Gary and I hope you maybe sometime find the time to return back.

It's a shame to see someone go, Gary. It can be hard to keep up when real life gets busy, but DVA usually makes it easy to keep membership active when you can't fly. Look into the history of some of us (myself included), and you'll see some long periods where we couldn't fly too much, but we make it back. Hope this is the same for you. I got discouraged at some points with the difficulty, but I've done alright considering I'm not an engineer, and people here have helped me learn through the process as well. If you reconsider leaving and ever want any help, look for me here or in ACARS. I'm sure others feel the same.

If you are still here Gary, and anyone who might feel as Gary does/did. Look at my Pilot record. You will see short spurts of flights with long gaps between. I've had to ask to be reinstated twice since I have been here. One of the reasons I am here is the real world atmosphere. there are a great group of pilots here, they are always glade to help you just have to ask. I'm sorry to see you go. Take care. James.

Oh, don't quit just because something's hard!!
If you're still there, just do not give up... life's true sweating! If you give up in a challenging hobby, how will you hit real-life challenges?!
An example - in real life, I'm a lawyer. If I gave things up when I first flunk the bar exam, where would I be today? Many of my friends gave up after 5, 6 years of college... the bottom line - life itself's not easy!
But if you're not with us anymore, Godspeed and take care.

p.s. - I noticed now - I FLUNKED THE TEST FOR THE AIRCRAFT YOU FLY hehehehe!
