my last post didn't fair too well and I have scanned thru the support site and need some advice. i have NO computer experience except what i have learned in my dealings.
what should I be looking for? and I have both fs9 that I love.....I also have fsxgold and would like to start trying to use fsx. I just don 't know anything about computers. I go to micro center and just get overwhelmed. and then leave......I can go as high as 1500 dollars but woujld like to keep it around 600 to 800 dollars if possible. Can someone advice me. thanks guys.

You can build an excellent PC for just 800 bucks.

Here are my spec which is almost a year old:

AMD A8 3850 processor overclocked to 3.6 GHz water cooled
AMD 6870 graphics card
Asus F1A75-M motherboard
8 gigs of DDR3 RAM
1.36 terabyte hardrive (forgot make/model but any will do)
600 Watt power supply
Windows 7 64bit
Samsung CD drive
Mastercooler HAF series case

I kept my monitor and speakers from the previous PC although I did buy a new mouse and keyboard from logitech. However unless you need the portability I would strongly suggest sticking with wired keyboards to avoid going through batteries.

Windows 7 Professional 64 Bit
At least 8 GB RAM DDR3 1600 Mhz
Minimum 750 watt power supply
24X CD/DVD burner
802.11 w/g/n (for internet connection/LAN/wireless)
1 or 2 TB hard drive 7,200 - 10,000 RPM
ASUS P9X79 PRO or some other comporable motherboard

As far as CPUs and video cards, everyone has a preference. Should be at least a quard core, minumum 3.6 - 3.9 GHz (the faster the better since FSX is CPU intensive). If you're going to overclock the thing, you'll need to get some cooling in place too.

I've used Nvidia video cards but currently use an AMD video card for FSX. From my experience the Nvidia cards works better with FSX.

Hope this helps. I'm sure others will chime in. Google "best FSX computer set-up/rig" or something like that. Should help you too (incuding some YouTube videos).

I recently just built a PC for this and if you need any help add me on fb or skype. I spent somewhere around 850 or so on mine and I get above 35 fps in the CS aircraft in payware scenery and bad weather with minor tweaks.
My specs are as follows:

CPU: i5 2500k @ 4.3 Ghz $160
Mobo: ASUS P8Z77V LK $100
RAM: g.Skill 8gb (4gb*2) $40
HDD: 2TB Hitachi 7200 RPM $110
GFX Card: ASUS GTX 560 (non-ti, non-TOP) @ 850mHz - got it for $150
DVD: LG 24X $17
PSU: OCZ Fatal1ty 750W $70
*Aftermarket Cooler Hyper 212+* $35
If I could have changed one or two things it would be the graphics card and the power supply just incase I want another card to SLI, which in this one I can but for GTX 570 I can't so 850W might be a better choice if you want to play other games aswell.
If you were to purchase this now
Prices have bounced a little bit.

CPU/MOBO/CASE - Microcenter
GPU/DVD - TigerDirect
RAM/HDD/Cooler/PSU - Newegg

My PC almost exactly as it is here on cyberpowerpc.com is $1100
