I would greatly appreciate any opinions!!! I have FSX, and I am very much interested in running several add-ons, in-particular a traffic add-on and a scenery one. While I'm on that topic, anybody have any suggestions for the best add-ons??

With the above things in mind, what do you think about this potential build? Thank you again!!!

Power Source: Thermaltake SMART M Series SP-750M
CPU: i5-3570K
Motherboard: ASUS P8Z77-V
RAM: CORSAIR Vengeance 16GB
GPU: MSI R7850
SSD: Corsair Force GT 120GB
HD: Samsung EcoGreen F4 2TB
Soundcard: ASUS Xonar DGX 5.1
Case: Antec Three Hundred
Fan: Noctua NH-D14 120mm & 140mm
Monitor: Dell UltraSharp U2412M
Keyboard: Logitech K120 Black
DVD Drive: LITE-ON Black 12X BD-ROM 16X

Note: As is the case with anyone, I want fsx to run crystal clear, as if I was in the cockpit in the air. I don't want any lagging, freezes, and I want the scenery to look real. So if you don't think this build will give me that, please let me know!! smile

That would certainly do the job. If it were mine though, I would switch to a NVidia GPU (personal preference, and from what I hear they run FS better), a 560Ti or greater would do the trick (I usually recommend the 570). If you intend on overclocking, I would go with the 2500k. You most likely won't need 16GB of RAM, 8 would do the trick. You should also avoid 'green' drives. Other than that everything looks pretty good.

I'd go with that... Also no point in 'downgrading' to a SandyBridge 2500k when you've spec'd an IvyBride IMHO. I'd also go for 8GB of RAM but hey I wouldn't be complaining with 16! smile

FWIW, more RAM is better if running 64bit OS.

Cheers!!

Thats the same motherboard I bought. I would just stick with the Ivy Bridge CPU since you are looking at a Z77 chipset. I also agree with going nVidia on the GPU. I went with a Corsair 650 Watt PSU.....unless you are going to SLI 750 is really overkill. As far as RAM, I went with the Corsair Dominator DDR3 1600 but opted for 8 GB because I honestly believe 16 is unecessary. Then again RAM is dirt cheap right now compared to three or four years ago.

Also, the soundcard, I wouldn't recommend using one as the integrated ones in the mobo are good quality. Aftermarket cooler would be a good idea as the stock cooler isn't very good. I get my pc boosted up to 4.3 Ghz and my temps dont leave to go above 60 in gaming. Also, the Nvidia vs AMD, In some cases you might get some bad lag but for the most part I doubt it. FYI, if you go to newegg, if from the US/Canada, then you can get a GTX 570 for around 270 USD, MSI Twin Frozr 2 edition.

Get a Nivida graphics card like said above a 560 2gig or a 570, and I highly suggest a 2600k or 2500k for overclocking. Stock clock the ivy bridge is not strong enough to max fsx and overclocking a ivy bridge chip on any cooler but a h80+ or equivalent or a custom loop is like throwing a match inside the computer and saying please don't catch.

I am running two 2 gig gtx 560 from evga in SLI its only like $210 a piece has the graphics power of just above a gtx 680 and much stronger then a 7970 for bf3 and such at a cheaper price. Fsx it is always more then enough since fsx does not use sli, and it hardily uses graphics power to start anyways.

16 gigs of ram is not really needed, but its not super expensive so mise well stick with it....
I highly suggest one of these options

http://www.amazon.com/PNY-PCI-Express-Overclocked-Graphics-VCGGTX580XPB-LC-CPU/dp/B005C31H3E < cpu cooler, and a liquid cooled graphics CARD for a good price and a 580 is in the ring for top 3 strongest single cards (680-7970-580)
or
use this too cool the cpu if it fits in your case
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835181017
I use the h100, i keep my 2600k at auto voltage and oc to 4.5Gz no problems at all and never go above 55C the stock clock and fan gets higher then that.
---
Many people will argue a i7 is not needed and claim its the same for fsx as a i5. It is not true core for core a i7 single core is slightly stronger. To go along with that a i7 chip you have the option of getting a 2700k which gives a better chance of a higher overclocking with less heat. The 2700k is a binned 2600k because it has less defects therefore can be set on avg of a higher speed per volt.

That system should work very nicely, I do also agree with the users recommending Nvidia. Let us know how it goes.

I use a Hyper 212+ and an i5 and my cpu temps never go above 60C, even during some hard tests. And for the graphics, the 670 is better than a 560 sli, and it costs less. In PC building, its best to spend what you can because as soon as you got it, then you're gonna want something else that's better, then you're out a hundred dollars or more. 8gb of RAM is fine for any setup. When you set up your pc install the updates for the hardware and then go into BIOS and set the setting to gaming or Performance if you go with ASUS. It might be able to bump you up to 4gHz or so, like mine did, however its only at that speed when you're using a cpu intesive task, FSX, Minecraft, ect., not Word or PowerPoint. You can SLI a GTX 670 with a 750W power supply and up. Very low power requirements.
