I installed FSX on a new computer a few days ago with Windows 7, 64-bit. The program was working fine originally. I purchased My Traffic X, and it continued working fine. Yesterday, I purchased Ultimate Terrain X, and was trying to install. FSX would then not open. I would try to open the prog, and it would show the loading screen with the circle spinning like it was loading.

I have since uninstalled, reinstalled, and it now will not connect to activate the program after I enter the serial key. Nothing will work. I don't know what to do. I have spent 5 hours so far today trying to fix this, all for nothing. Please help

well, I "tried." for one, it would only let me go back until 11:20am this morning, which would not have fixed it. #2, I did try the 11:20 anyway, but then it told me that the restore failed because maybe a virus program was running. I disabled that, still wouldn't work.

dropped nearly $1700 into this thing and now I can't even fly. was very frustrated, just beyond pissed off at this point

Try deleting the fsx.cfg and restarting FSX. It will build a new one.

I don't see that file anywhere. I even searched for it on the hard drive. Any suggestions?

I suggest you download REVO uninstaller and run it. It's free program that will delete any program/files including the stuff in the registry. You have to choose advanced uninstall to clear the registry entries too. I would perform the advanced uninstall on FSX, Traffix X and UTX. Then try re-installing everything.

If you just used the add/remove program on Windows 7 that will not clear the registry entries from these programs. I believe this is why things got all fouled up. It's happend to me before; that's how I learned about Revo Uninstaller.

http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.html

You can also try Wise Registry Cleaner which does what its names implies (it only cleans up the registry). It's a free program too.

Also when you install and run any program on Windows 7, you need to choose "run as adminstrator." Right click on the icon and you'll see this option.

Anyhow, next thought is to insert the DVD and use the repair wizard. If you decide to uninstall be very careful, doing it wrong will keep you chasing FSX fragments for days trying to get the DVD to do a full reinstall.

One side thought, what is your install directory?
