I swear, I'm so friggin' sick of fsx and the problems I've had. I have never seen such an unstable & unpredictable program with so many flaws and problems as this one has. Microsoft should be embarrassed to have their name on the product. On my laptop, I had no problems running the program, except for the fact that I had to lower the graphic slider settings and what-not the majority of the way down on each.

Ever since I bought my new desktop that I had built, I've had nothing but problems. I've gotten several blue screens (only when running fsx), and when I got one last week and rebooted, FSX would load, but then on the main fsx screen, I could not choose anything. Whenever I clicked on anything in fsx, it locked up, crashed, and then I'd have to close out fsx totally. My friend that built the computer for me was a computer engineering major and is a computer guru. From what I've explained to him so far, he said the blue-screen could possibly have messed up files for fsx, but he said he doubted it.

I had a really hard time registering fsx with the serial key when I installed it on to the new computer. It would not connect and I could not use the program. My friend was in town (he lives about 2.5 hours away), and he was able to coincidentally get it installed. It was all working fine until the blue-screen issue....and again, now will not allow me to do anything other than load the program to the main screen.

I spent almost $1700 on this computer, and get more and more depressed daily that I'm not logging hours currently. I'm at the point where I'm ready to just purchase xplane. whether it's better or not I don't know, but I bet it runs solid.

If you have any advice, please help... :-/

Did you install all of the service packs? When I install a fresh FSX, I have those problems until I finally get all of the updates and service pack and such... Oh, and I hate X-Plane.. someone used to FSX whom switches to X-Plane will find it difficult to do so.

Joseph, thanks for the response. Yes, both service packs are installed. I actually have the "acceleration" expansion pack which was included with the FSX I bought. That pack has both of the packs built-in.

Ahh.. I had to actually uninstall the acceleration because it would not play fair with my new Ailenware computer... I had to go to plane jane FSX, and after I did all the SP's, I was golden... I have never been able to get Acceleration to work on my new rig.

last time I tried to reinstall the program, I could not get FSX registered for the longest time. it would try to connect for 2-3 minutes after I entered the serial key, then timeout...and therefore, could not use the program

Josh,

I understand your frustration but let me see if this will help.
First go to this site and install just like it says : http://www.simforums.com/forums/setting-up-fsx-and-how-to-tune-it_topic29041.html

The other thing is to put: UIAUTOMATIONCORE.DLL into your FSX folder. Do not remove this file from you W7 folders. The FSX when it starts will first look in the FSX folder before going to a WIN7 folder. There is a version of this DLL file that I can't link to you at this moment because of the firewall where i am at.

Then Tweak Bejotes tweeking tool to gt your FSX.CFG file in order.

Once you have it setup then if you have the money go to Simmarket and purchase this program or where you can find it: FSPS - FSX BOOSTER V4
I just did a complete reload OS and FSX and it works like a champ.

I can do a 10 hour flight and not worry about a CTD or blue screen episode.

I hope this helps!

Kenneth, thank you. So this involves a complete uninstall/reinstall? I'm so afraid that I won't be able to get it registered after reinstalling :-/

As for the phone registration idea, what # do you call for that? I had looked everywhere and couldn't find it...

If you are talking about registering FSX when you install it the program it will ask you do want to install online. If you click "no" it gives you the option to register it off-line and gives you the phones number. 1-888-822-7631

I don't have the significant issues you have but I more or less understand your thoughts. Although I've dabbled with Flight Simulator since the early 90's, I never used it hard core like I started doing this year. It is crashy. I has a lot of add ons some of which are complex to install, configure, and manage. It runs like a pig. It has the look and feel of a final product held together with twine and bailing wire. However, enough cannot be said for the ecosystem that has been built around this product which appears to stand the test of time. There is so much available, it does seem worth it. When it's stable enough on your PC.

Interesting, I just don't have any of these problems running FSX. I did have the UIAUTOMATIONCORE.DLL problem but that was corrected when I put the older file in my fsx directory. Adding that file is a must. Here is the link

http://download3.apollo3.com/download/download.php?id=20

How many others use the FSPS - FSX BOOSTER V4 program? If I'm getting 30fps constant with everything turned up and never crash should I bother buying this?

I am currently not using FSPS - FSX BOOSTER V4 but this has now sparked my interest. My rig is good enough for most airports I visit but performance at KJFK is pretty bad. It would be nice to get rid of more of the choppiness.

was thinking about this. fs9 is FS2004 right? I have that version somewhere.....in a 10x20' storage unit....lol

I may just buy it on amazon.com if I can't figure out the problem. who else on here runs 2004, and how well does it work online with things like ACARS and vatsim? what are add-ons like for it? Do our fleet add-ons run well on it?

I have no problems at all....I use all the fleet add-ons, acars, squawkbox, REX along with MANY scenery add-ons freeware and payware. I was going to get FSX but after reading all the issues people have been having I decided not to do it and stick with FS9. Old saying "if it ain't broke don't fix it"! Btw yes FS9 is 2004.

I feel your pain it is so frustrating to get things running correctly at times. I have had nothing but problems with the Acceleration pack on two different computers, I don't use it. Also as with just about every program not just FSX, when you use the uninstall option from the program or from add/delete in my computer it does not completely uninstall all the components of the program. It always leaves the FSX.CFG settings in the user/app section. When you reinstall you are stuck with the old config settings which may be the problem, it doesn't rewrite them. After running add/ delete I manually delete the config file.
