I took my first exam for 757 Captain and got a 70%. So, I didn't pass. I have a couple of questions about preparing for these exams.

First, what is a passing percentage?

Second, I had studied the 757 manual but many of the questions were from material not covered in that manual. I'm sure it's written somewhere, but what other material should I have studied besides the 757 manual. After the test I noticed a lot of the questions were taken from the Flight Sim Encyclopedia, but even then there were still questions that seemed to be from other sources. Can someone tell me what those sources are?

Thanks!

I find questions are pulled from a multitude of manuals in the DVA documentation library. They aren't all pulled exclusively from the aircraft manual you're being tested on. They are all open book.

When I would have to take my annual requalification test in the military one of the exams we took was the open book test. Sounds easy, right? But not so. I have taken as much as 6 hours to to finsh the test. The first question could be out of your operators manual, the next could come from the FAR's then the next was from the NOAH Weather legend. When I was a rookie pilot and a senior pilot was walking by me, it was better for me if he saw me studying something or at least table talking with anther more experienced pilot. A professional pilot never stops learning!

Yeah, I know it's open book, but you have to have the right books open and I didn't! So, now I know, thanks to you all, and I'm looking forward to taking the test again! I love the learning environment here at Deltava! I will never be a RW pilot, but I have been smitten by the Flying bug!!!! FSX, Vatsim and VA's like ours provide the next best thing. Thanks all!
