So throughout my flight sim career, i have experienced many strange things happen with my computer; including it just shutting off in the middle of a flight. Recently, this has been happening a lot. I could be parked at the gate, midway over the atlantic, or just about to land, and the computer completely powers itself off- like someone pulled the plug out of it. In the Windows Event Viewer, these instances are listed as Kernel-Power Event ID: 41 Category 63. I have researched this issue in depth on the internet and there are slim resources on how to fix it. I have run memory tests, updated drivers, updated bios, tested the PSU, checked for viruses along with spyware, and heating is definitely not as issue as i have it gauged with RealTemp. The issue has gotten so bad that the computer can be running idle on the desktop and all of a sudden it switches off. There is no time window for it either, it happens completely randomly. This issue has seriously been racking my brain, and ruining my flight sim experience. If any of you guys can shed ANY light on this I would be more than grateful. I use FSX with Vatsim, connected by FSInn. I have a registered copy of FSUIPC, and tons of payware aircraft along with several sceneries. I also use REX graphics with the ASE weather engine. Again, these problems have been far and spread out in the past, but now they are happening every time the computer is turned on. Below i have listed my computer specs:
Asus P8Z68-M Pro motherboard
Intel Core i7 2600K @3.4gHz
Corsair GS800 Power Supply
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 graphics card
Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo CPU Cooler
2x 4GB Corsair VENGEANCE DDR3 1600
250GB Hitachi HD
RealTek Audio
Logitech G15 keyboard
Saitek ProFlight yoke and throttle

Have you checked the CPUs temp ?
If core temp is getting too hot, the CPU's self deference to shut it self before you
have roasted silicon

Sorry, ADDHD (1080P ).
Is the OS Windows 7 ?
Checking the web for the error 41 lots of confusing data and lots of voodoo stuff.
See if this helps http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-system/event-id-41-task-63-error/bcf64e19-7cc3-4b27-8152-0260690a26a1?page=3
see if you can run the PC on 4G of RAM (one dimm) and see if it crashes.
Check with ASUS web site if the memory is certified for the mobo and recommended settings.

I am sure you tried all things listed here
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-performance/event-id-41-kernel-power-task-category-63/5f470799-0e2f-4723-9b5d-7e8708edc24e
It talks about screen savers and such.
I noticed you have a G15 Keyboard, when i upgraded to win 7 I used to get random Blue Screens, the G15 was causing it. I updated the driver and it corrected it.

Have you checked your power settings? ...do you think your home/building is suffering from brown outs?

Phil,
I have updated all the drivers on every device connected to the computer.

Michael,
I don't think that is the problem, the power to my house is consistent and has not been suffering any sort of brown outs.

Okay guys it looks to me like I have solved the problem.... Before these problems started, i had messed around with a lot of settings for overclocking over the past year or so. After an incredible amount of internet searching and reading pain-stakingly long articles about what to do, i think i have fixed the problem. I reflashed my bios and downgraded it to a revision that is more friendly towards overclocking. I then reset the CMOS by jumping out the motherboard and removing the onboard battery for a couple minutes. After the CMOS reset i turned on the computer, booted into my BIOS, and set the exact overclocking parameters that work well for my system. From the information i learned over the internet, basically the more and more you play around with settings within the bios, it builds up something called DMI Pools i believe. After having done the reset, it clears these DMI Pools which generally lead to unstable crashes and other strange issues. My computer is now running successfully at 4.5ghz and i'm 1 hour and a half into my flight from KJFK to KLAX! Thank you to everyone for the suggestions i really do appreciate it. I'll post once more in here within the next week to state any changes that may occur.
