Hello folks,

Whenever I fly from an airport that I'm using FSDreamTeam scenery, I've noticed that FSX really struggles and sometimes crashes on me. I'm running with 4GB of RAM currently and was planning to upgrade to 8GB. Was curious how much RAM you use for FSX?

Hi Jeremy

I am using 8 GB and it helps with all other tasks however FSX (as a 32bit application) will only use 2 GB out of it... possible up to 3 with some tweaking... That being said, the more RAM the better overall... You will also need the 64bit version of the OS to make use of all that extra RAM.

+1 as Florin said you must have a 64bit OS for it to be used above 4gb Florin I believe FSX will handle up to 4GB as it will match the basic 4gb for a 32 bit OS

yes, if you use the himem=1 tweak in the fsx.cfg then fsx will use up to 4gb of ram if you have a 64 bit OS. So having another 4 gb for other applications like weather etc. is a good idea.
