With the winter weather in the northeast today, I think there is a good chance my flight into BOS will have to divert. I looked through the official DVA pilot manual, but couldn't find exactly what I was looking for. I know that if I divert, my pirep will be held until I complete the next flight to my original destination. Is there a maximum time to complete the flight? I may not be able to fly again for a week or two, and I am concerned with my flight being rejected if I don't finish soon enough.

Jim, we would like the diverts to be flown within 7 days, just like responding to held PIREPS, but we can hold it a little longer if you explain in the email sent from the held PIREP that you need a few days longer.

Is there any guidance on where to divert to given the weather is good enough to get to the alternate? Does Delta have a list of "favorite" airfields to divert to?

Chuck, ACARS gives you your nearest airport if the diversion is necessary close by, but otherwise you could check the alternate box on ACARS which has a list of suitable airports near your destination.

Thanks, if I want to practice missed approach and flight to my destination I assume as long as I refile and fly to the original destination within 7 days it would be acceptable?
