Hey guys!
I decided to upgrade my computer and have everything except the power supply. I am unsure exactly what to look for when it comes to PSU's. Currently I have a 500w PSU that I love (it has all sorts of connectors!) but I don't think that is enough for what I have now:
i5-2500k (Want the option to OC)
GTX 560 1024MB
8GB (2x4) DDR3
2 HDD
I am on a tight budget as I already spent a little more than I wanted on the other components so I am not looking for the greatest and latest, just something that will do the job at a fair price.
Thanks guys!

I would go with either this 550w or this 650w. You should be just fine with the 550w, but if you want a little wiggle room you can go up to a 650w. The PSU Bill recommended is also nice, but I prefer XFX due to their single 12v rail design which provides multiple advantages over multiple 12v rails.

Thanks for the suggestions! I think I'll go with the XFX 550. From what I've read, the 550w should still be plenty for my setup. I am running a 500w with an OC'd CPU and GTX 560 and don't have any problems so the 550w should be able to handle it since the only upgrade I am doing is 4 more GB RAM, MoBo, and CPU.
Thanks for the help!

Is there any particular reason you decided on the 2500k over the 3570k?

Kyle,
Are you overclocking? You don`t need to buy another PCU. 500W its just enough for your new components. Suggestion about the Hard Drives. Get SSD drives. Expensive but its so worth it.

The 2500k rocks for fsx. OC it to 4.5 or 4.7 and you're good to go. I'm sorry, but I have to disagree with the minimum power requirements. Power is good, the more you have the better. 500W willl just cover it, maybe, but a good graphics card sucks the juice and the OC will suck that last little bit out for sure. Go big.

I don't disagree that the 2500k is a great CPU, but the 3570k offers slight performance enhancements with a lower TDP. With a halfway decent heatsink you can hit 4.5 easily and even higher if you push it. For the PSU, while I wouldn't stick with the 500 you had, the 550w will be fine even accounting for an OC.

Your call Kyle, but IMHO, again, get the power. The 3570k has a slight performance enhancement but at the expense of heat. It's a blowhard lol. But 4.5 on a 3570k is better than 4.7 on a 2500k. It's a question of whether you can reach it. You have it right, just get a good power supply.

I was able to get the 2500k for a pretty good deal and it still exceeds my needs. Decided to use the $$ I saved for a good pair of RAM.
I will upgrade my PSU. I know it's only 50 extra Watts but that may be what is needed for cushion room. Although I'm really having a hard time scraping an extra $60 for this build.

I just noticed the 550w PSU is not modular. My case is a full size case but with a micro board and the aftermarket CPU fan, I don't have much extra room so I'm wanting to go modular. I came across this and would like some input about it: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151031 I can get it for $65.

It's a brand that I've never heard of so personally I'd stay away...
At the moment I'm running an i5 2400, 6GB RAM, 5 HDD's, Nvidia GTX460 (has the same power requirement as your 560) all off a Gigabyte 585W PSU and I recon I still have some wiggle room...

Seasonic is a great brand, the one I recommended is actually a rebranded Seasonic PSU. That one should do fine for you.

Haha I got lucky. I know a few people who own some planes so I just have to pay fuel. Most of my flying is done in a 172M at $54/hr and split with a 2nd person. It really is an incredible deal! But the drive to the airport is almost an hour away. So if I want to go up quick, I'll just go down to my local airport which then it is $111 to rent a DA20 (yuck!)
The PSU I found is on Ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Seasonic-M12-700-M12-SS-700W-ATX-EPS-Modular-80-Certified-Power-Supply-/321077062449 I was told to watch out for counterfeit items sold on ebay so I decided to not go that route. This is looking like the one I'm going to go for now: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182132 It is more than I wanted to spend but it's about the cheapest and best I can find for non modular PSU's.
