The 717 is available right now (I forget which program you need to take the test/check ride in to get the rating though). You can probably find a 717 on AVSIM.

Anthony, See NOTAM #34 in your case.. You fall under Exp 2 and will have to take an MD-88 CR to get the 717

Ralph, I got a 717 in Delta paint from Flightsim.com. I haven't been satisfied with the 717 panels I've come across, so I made a glass panel based on the MD88.

In search options, all file sections, type in "Delta B717". It's in the old widget colors. Or try this link: http://flyawaysimulation.com/downloads/files/497/fs2004-fs2002-boeing-717-200-delta-airlines-old-new/

It's a descendent of the DC9/MD80 series. McDonnell Douglas was working on a new addition to the family based on the DC9-30, but before it was completed Boeing bought MD. They decided to keep it and rename it the B717. So, I guess you could say it's the newest "DC9". The whole series started and grew out of that in the '60's.
