hi guys, i have been looking all over the web and there are so many opinions about cpu temps, so i thought i would ask here because i trust ya'll... i just OC'd my i5 3570k to 4.4ghz using vcore at 1.25v. i ran prime95 for 4 hours and highest temp core1 got to was 84c, but usually hovered around 79c. right now at idle its at around 44c. i also ran IBT test on high and 10 runs, and it passed. is my setup stable enough and are my temps ok?

Those temps are a little high for that OC, but not out of range. What kind of heatsink are you using?

That is pretty high for those circumstances, but not too high. Perhaps you put too much thermal paste on? Or maybe you got unlucky with the CPU, each chip is different. Either way if you don't plan on pushing any higher you should be fine.

Jason, a little on the high side but not "dangerous." Just at the higher end, not highest end, of the safe range. And it will run cooler when you're running the sim.

I will put my money on improper install of the CPU Cooler. Try reinstalling it with a proper amount of paste.

you don't need much. Look up some videos on youtube, that's what I did. I have a 2700k but you should be able to find one for your cpu.
You also need a video that shows you how to clean the cpu and heatsink. That has to be done before you can reinstall the cooler.

Most likely too much. That said don't worry about it, your temps are high but will be well within range during normal use.
