Hello my friends. As the subject of my post suggests, FSX is no longer providing me with accurate RW weather updates. I’ve consulted with Microsoft’s help center and relevant article concerning this problem advises deletion of temporary internet files, however that has not yet provided me with resolution of the issue. Nor is this a mere matter of my applying excessive scrutiny to the realism of the virtual world (which I am inclined to do anyways), as the temperature at DTW per the NWS was 79? upon departure, yet FSX was providing me with a reading of 44? (clearly anomalous data reporting). I couldn’t tell whether the other meteorological elements accurately comported with the actual NWS reporting’s, but it’s not really relevant since the temperatures are so far off. Furthermore, DTW was not the only airport reflecting highly inaccurate readings, as temperatures as far west as Colorado were in the upper 50’s (I didn’t scan further west). If anyone has any insights concerning how best to resolve this very confounding dilemma, please let me know. Thank you for reading my friend and happy landings.

Thanks for the input sir. I'm not sure that's the problem however, since the weather in FSX was rendered accurately until just this last week. I would suppose that if the problem were as widespread and systemic to the program as that information you encountered suggested, we'd also be hearing much more about this issue. Thanks again for your time and reply.

Im having the same issue....Always rain and Altimeter 29.84 in JFK....almost made me crash the other day!.
I am being able to download the weather, but its not depicted as the real and current weather, so there is discrepancies with online flying...and its always the same conditions...
I started with this issue last saturday, so maybe its got something to to with the servers being down or something. I just hope it gets fixed promptly as REX weather screws up every configuration on NGX and PMDG, and it makes FSX CTD.

I remember reading on Avsim something about the FSX weather servers being down. I use Opus so didn't really look at it so don't have more information, sorry. But it sounded like something that was an ongoing problem.

I believe this is the Avsim post Bill referred to: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/411980-fsx-microsoft-server-real-weather/
I never found MSFS RW weather to be all that accurate in the first place. The winds aloft were sketchy and they were sometimes kept all the way to the ground. I remember on a CTP landing with a 100kt headwind at Heathrow. Wind shifts at any altitude were bothersome. I think if you were to invest in an add-on weather program you will find cloud depiction, precipitation and visibility will become much more realistic as well. Good luck resolving the issue no matter what course you pursue.

Sirs, thank you all for your very informative and helpful contributions. It is beginning to sound as though it may very well be an issue related to the servers, as it's not exclusive to me.
If OPUS FSX doesn't rely upon the servers used by default FSX weather interface to generate weather related data then it seems like a very good solution. Hopefully this is just some temporary problem that gets resolved soon. Thanks again for your replies gentlemen.

Jeff, Also bear in mind the Active sky products if choosing a payware weather engine, http://www.hifitechinc.com/products
Many pilots on here use OPUS but a huge number use the Active Sky products,
I guess it will be down to your own personal taste at the end of the day.

Chief Hale, thank you for your recommendation sir! I've actually already purchased OPUS and have founded it to be a substantial improvement over fsx default generated weather in every measurable way. Thanks for the information though sir.

Bill, to use OPUS on a networked pc you need to install FSX on both systems? Does it mess up with the fsx configuration on the main PC? or does it generate any connection issues with WideFS and FSINN?
Thanks!

FSrealWX Lite is also a good freeware alternative. I started using this program a few weeks ago when I encountered the same problem with FSX weather. I have a feeling the FSX weather problem is never going to get fixed.

I can likewise confirm that the fsx rw weather updates have once again become active and appear to be accurately reflecting the actual local conditions. I have no idea how long this will last but I really hope Microsoft gets their act together and continues to deliver a service which their products functionality and end user enjoyment are both highly contingent on.
Thanks for the ecellent info regarding that fine freeware program James. And thank you as well Jimmy for the information concerning the status of fsx rw weather updates.
