What do you mean by dive bombing?

If you see that you're gonna be pushing it to make the required altitude, ask for an earlier decent.

Ask to fly through the LOC
Spoilers & flaps to tame airspeed as much as possible for rapid descent
"Unable"/Go around - If pilots would use this more often instead of making herculean efforts to land, controllers would get the hint.
Controller feedback at their website - careful you're not too critical here. Afterall you are a skilled pilot who can meet ATC half way as long as you're not endangering the pax.

Happens in the real world too, Douglas. I simply make a reasonable attempt to salvage the approach but if I am too high then I go around.
