If you have squares then something is wrong with the effect, texture, or aircraft.

when working properly they should look like flashing lights

It's not on every aircraft, though. It seems to be only on project airbus aircraft.

In the Project Airbus base pack, I think there is a file named effects. Move the contents of that folder to /Microsoft FSX/Effects. That may work. I think PA uses custom effects, and those are probably missing, making the block lights. smile
